Default sixth gear on a B-series

After some resarch I have been unsuccesful in my search to find out if a sixth gear has ever been attempted in a B-series tranny. I do not intend to use a sixth gear to speed, I want it only for the gas savings and also the less wear on the motor. Please post comments and any information you might have. also any posible solutions, besides a K motor swap. Thanks!

no such thing exists... well then again you could probably get a k series transmission to work... only problem you would have is converting it to fit and trying to figure out how to get your b series to spin backwards.

Don't need it to spin backwards, just mount it backwards

Quaiffe makes a hydraulic sequential 6spd. So does Hollinger, however I do not think that the Hollinger has a FWD bell housing available unlike the Quaiffe.

Both cost in the $14-16k range.

definitely the original poster should back the hell off now. no point in adding a sixth gear anyway.

I found one about 3 years ago. I found a sequential 6 spd offered from a company in Australia that produced them for rally purposes and said they'd do custom work for Hondas if requested. It was in the $10,000. range similar to yours.

They are out there for enough money, I no longer have the link I lost it about 3 reformats ago. And I don't remember where I found it or even how good or dependable the company that claimed they could produce it would be.

Yupperz.

Quaife is najz!

I think KAAZ also will do one for you.....

The nice thing is that you get to pick the gear ratios you want... mmmmmmmmm!

Yeah, when I'm crusing at 80mph at 4500 rpm, I long for another gear. R's really should've come with a 6sp transmission...but it does save us a few $$ on insurance.

RedBadge--WTF is a Circuit Type R?

seriously though, if there were a relatively affordable kit (~$1,000) that would allow us to get rid of reverse and have a 6th gear, I would buy it in a heartbeat.....

That's one reason the k series is in my distant future..... 6spd... mmmmm!

Why does hasport concentrate on the BS k series anyway?

They need to come up with a way to swap in the F20C for EF/EG/DC/EK chassis owners.....
