225 tires fit on 6" width wheels?
I've about decided to get some used GSR wheels for track duty.
Pros/Cons with 225 width V700's on a 6" GSR wheel? Will that even fit? (i didn't see a 215 on tirerack.com)
Pros/Cons with sticking to a 205 width V700 on a 6" GSR wheel?
Any reason I couldn't be in STX with the 225 tire?
thanks!

225 width tires are legal in STX, but r-tires are not. If you're looking for a tire to run STX with that will still perform well at the track, check out the falken azenis (if you can find them in your size).

woah - somehow i missed that fact this whole time. i was planning on STS/STX. hmmm. now what, SM class?
and about the 225 on 6" wheels? work? pros/cons?

You are probably better off just going with a 205 size...a 225 tire on a 6" rim will bow the surface of the tire and you will probably be getting less surface are touching the ground then you would with a properly fitting 205 tire. Additoinally, you are adding more wieght (be it a small amount) for little if no benefit. But this is unsprung weight. For a 225 tire, you really should have at least a 7.5" wide wheel, you can get away with a 7", but a 6" is pushing it.
Depending what you have done to your car, you can look at DSP as well. That might be decent for you at a local level. National level, you need to have the car pretty well prepared to be competitive there.
I *would not* put 225 street tires on a 6" rim. The sidewall is too large and not stiff enough in a street compound, so handling will feel sloppy and not precise.
Only reason Integra GS/DS guys run 225 V700s on a 6" rim is because 1) they cannot use any wheel larger than stock and 2) race rubber sidewall is a lot stiffer than street tire sidewall and contact patch is is a good thing on a race tire for stock classes.

Thanks guys - I'm a little confused though. Is 225 width on a 6" wheel only going to be a Bad Idea if it's street tires? I plan on putting V700's on the 6" wheels. Which as Todd00 said, would be alright because of stiffer sidewalls. The V700's are classified as R compound tires? How are GS/DS guys running them, I thought that was a stock only classing? I'm confused...
(yes I am getting a SOLO-2 manual - but thanks for bearing with me)

WRXRacer111: Right now only CAI and ITR Cat-back as far as engine goes. New brake-pads/fluid, Eibachs, ITR sway bar, and ITR strut bar as far as handling goes. Can I remove interior and be in DSP? What about FI?
thanks again!
(yes, Ben is getting confused, needs a SOLO-2 manual)

People only run 225 tires on a 6" rim because they have to. The ideal situation is a 225 tire on at least a 7" rim, street tire or not.
Kosei K1 in a 15x7 is about $550 for a set of 4. They are lighter and wider than the stock wheels and are a decent price.
And yeah, get a soloII manual or go to http://www.moutons.org and click on the soloII classification page. Remember, if it doesn't specifically say that you *can* do it, then you can't.

I ran a whole season on 225 50 15 on stock R rims and they were very squirmy. Inprecise is an understatement. Just went to Kosei 7" and we'll see how they do.
Chris
If I had it to do over, I'd have run a season with 205's properly fitted.

Thanks for the clarification guys, I'll stick with 205's if I end up with the 6" wheels.
Now about my class... do Kumho Victoracers/Ecsta V700's take me out of STX, because I thought STX was just a replacement for STR which allowed such tires last year?

STX = STS for LSD vehicles and vehicles with larger displacements. No R compound tires are allowed. STR is officially dead. Either run street tires and do STS (or STX if you own an R) or go into Street Prepared (DSP for Integra, CSP for Integra R).
I saw that someone suggested 225 Falken Azenis on a 6" wide wheel. I've heard that it is difficult to get a 205 tire on a 6" wheel.
That's my question: Can I use a 205 Azenis on a 6" GSR wheel (someone told me that they are 6.5", which is incorrect).? They will be street driven too so proper fitment is a must. I never got a direct answer last time I asked.

A 205 tire will work ok on a 6" wide rim. The 205 Azenis is a little wider than your normal 205 time though. It will work, but you may be able to feel a bit of sidewall flex when you take a turn.
I run 205 tires on my 6" rims on the street on my beater 93 just because I think it looks cool
I would not go any wider than a 205 on a 6" rim unless I *absolutely* had to.

They were prolly squirmy cause with a 225 wide tire on a 6" rim the tire is going to bow in the center causing you to only ride on the center and not the whole tire.
Not if you pick your offset very carefully, with a good possibility of using spacers, and perhaps an order of rolling a fender lip. There are so many variables (such as ride height, and what you can tolerate), that I'd definitely do your research before committing to such a purchase.
Robert Carpenter (won ES SoloII Nationals last year) runs 225 Hoosiers on the stock 5.5" wide CRX rims.
I am running 205/50/15 Azenis' on my 5.5" wide rims as well. No bowing or anything.
Also GSR/R rims are 6.5" wide, not 6" wide I believe.

GS-R, Si, and ITR wheels are 15x6
k, i was just going what my Lude rims are, they are an inch wider than my Accord rims, so figured the GSR/R rims were as well
