Default Is there a smaller filter that fits oil filter relocation kits?

I'm trying to make my car not overheat the oil on the track, and its becoming a big pain in the *** and not the simple chore I thought it would be. I got the cooler grid mounted in the bumper, but the oil filter landing is so tight that I couldn't get a sandwich plate in there to mount the lines to. I had to buy an oil filter relocation kit, and it uses an enormous ford truck filter that I cannot for the life of me find a place to put in my already cramped engine bay. The guy at Jeg's told me that they're 3/4x16 threads and its pretty standard among Fords and some GMs... does anyone know if there's a smaller (in diameter and length but mostly length) that fits the relocation landing? Maybe a Taurus filter, or even a Focus (although I have a hunch that has a metric filter). Thanks for the help.

The Motorcraft big boy you speak of is an FL1A, Mobil's cross reference is a M1 301 which is what I use, but I have room for it. Also, Bosch 3500, Fram PH8A

A Fram PH16 is the same filter as FL1A, but about 1/2 as tall. Look for cross references for a Fram PH16 in the Auto-zone filter book and you 're in business. I carry the smaller Mobil as a spare because it takes up less room in my spares bin! I think it is M1 201...but I'm not sure.

Thanks guys... I'll have to raid AutoZoo again. I just found this site 2 minutes ago
http://www.trasko-usa.com/crossref.htm
That lists filters by thread size... pretty convient if you're shopping for bigger/smaller filters that fit.

i'm using the same oil filter re-location kit buddy...i had this massive ford filter waiting to go somewhere in my car, and i couldnt find a place for it..

so i put it where the filter would go with a cold air kit....

guess thats not an option for you..as your NA....but consider it, if you can fit the lines. good luck man-adam

solution found.... I just had to thing a little outside the box, or in this case, engine bay....

Now on to the next problem... the block off plate is too big in diameter to fit on the landing, it hits the intake manifold bracket. Hopefully I can solve this one in the machine shop tomorrow....

You can trim that intake bracket a little.... heck, some guys just discard them!

Be sure and tie up those braided lines, and protect wiring an hoses from them. They are like little hack saws when they start wiggling around!

Well there's also a raised area on the block where the bracket mounts to. Trimming the bracket would fix some of it, but the block itself is still in the way. I'm gonna try milling about a 1/4" off the diameter and see if I can get it in there. Worst comes to worst, I have a block of aluminum here, I can make my own blockoff plate... but it would probably take forever.
I still need to go back through with a wad of zipties and tape... I haven't finished routing the lines yet, once they're all where they need to be, I'll protect surrounding areas accordingly.
