Buying block and head seperatly cheaper?
Well i will be maybe keeping my civic to do a swap and why is it iam finding it cheaper to buy the block and head seperatly.
because i found a ls tranny for $70.00 and the ls block for $90.00 and all i would need is the head which i could find with no problem..
so i guess what iam asking is do you all think it is easier to build a motor from the ls block like putting a b16 head on it..
or just buying a ls motor..

You just have to be patient and find deals... someone is ALLWAYS desperate for cash!!!

I think some of these questions your asking is pointless now and not worth anwering anymore. You have to do some type of research and figure out whats a good buy and what isnt. If your looking to get your self into a project and and have alot of time on your hands, you should buy parts peice by peice and put it together with new bolts, screws, gaskets etc.
I was going to rebuild my gsr short block for turbo but ended up getting a really good deal on a complete swap so now its for sale. This short block has the crackshaft intact, I removed the pistons/rods but it be will included except for the oil pan. This is legit a LEGIT block, I have the vin plate on it and also receipt. Taking offers
My brother pieced together his gsr swap. This is what we ended up looking at.
Buying a complete swap = +/- $3,000 motor only, no clutch or tune up parts and on top of that you have a motor with about 50k+ miles.
My bro Piecing it together = +/- $3,500 WITH skunk2 manifold, type-r pistons, new rings, bearings, arp rod bolts and headstuds, 6 puck clutch and flywheel, hondata etc. Best part 0,000 miles!!!

Interesting, I picked up a front clip from a shop which included engine, trans, ecu, mounts, axels, shift linkage, spindles, lower control arms, cross member, sway bar,
ac compressor, power steering pump and bottle, and a gsr harness. I forgot to mention this is a 2001 usdm gsr swap with 30k miles when it was removed. All this for the very low price of 2800 and a few hours to install. I think i'll make some money back after selling some of this stuff. I rather wait on selling parts and making my money back slowly then slowy finding parts to put together and taking forever to drive an enjoy it. Just my opinion
