Default burning oil but where?

damn it this is pissing me off...my d16a6 was burning oil ONLY after the car was warmed up and cruising with gas pedal not depressed in 5th gear. i checked compression it was 160 across the board...i thought it was my valves...so i did a mini me. The head is fully rebuilt z6 with 0 miles. put everything back on. I opted to use the A6 manifold and keep the z6 manifold off. Still now it burns oil when im in 5th gear cruising with gas not pressed down. My compression after teh swap is 200 psi. head is brand new...i cleaned out my PCV valve today and its as good as new it clicks nicely but still it burns oil....what the hell is going on? where is it im burning oil? the funny thing is yea im burning oil BUT i barely lose any oil.....someone HELP PLEASE!

check to see if its leaking onto your exhaust somehow, it'll burn the oil fro mbeing so hot and make you think your burning oil out of the exhaust..... CLEVER LITTLE CAR.

Blue smoke that is coming out of your exhaust while cruising means you have bad piston rings.

However, like shivern said, it can drip onto the exhaust, but if you know its coming out of the exhaust at the back, then it is a piston ring.

Piston rings... unless maybe the valve seals weren't replaced?

Well its either valve seals or piston rings. Usually at idle when you have blue smoke coming out of your exhaust its the valve seals, when you are cruising it is usually the piston rings.

Hey, if you don't believe me, wait for some more feedback. I don't know if compression shows worn out piston rings. SOMEONE clarify this.

Compression will show worn rings. You will usually get a semi low reading and when you add a teaspoon of oil in the cyclinder and retest it the compression jumps up like 30psi.

This is a tell tale sign its rings.

What about valve guides? I too have had the same problem where under high vacuum situations (decelerating in gear), and as soon as I gave it some gas, there would be a nice blue cloud to choke people behind me. I replaced the valve seals and it still smoked. Compression was good as well.
I still have not determined the exact cause yet because I've pulled the head to have it rebuilt and get a valve job. I'm also replacing the rings while I've got the head off. It's got to solve the smoking problem, lol
