(IRL) Go Danica!!! but who will stop AGR?
She really did drive an awesome race. I can't wait to see how she does at the Indy 500. So anyway it seems like AGR can't be stopped this year again, I for one kinda want to see a AGR 1-2-3-4 at the 500. Now I am not sure who I'd like to see win, I am going with Bryan Herta because he is the one that doesn't get the spot light that much.

I like Danica, but Rahal is pure scumbag. Some of the stories I've heard about him make me shudder.

We are talking about the same Danica... the one that tied a leash around Tommy Kendall and led him around the paddock.

CART?
Whats that?
Don't you mean "OWRS" or is it called the "Firestone North American Winged and Open Wheeled Racing Series With One Good Team Presented By Ford"
CART is a joke these days. Two weeks before Long Beach many teams had no idea who their driver was. Yeah, go to that series Danica.
Smart career move!!!

I guess I forget that they're in it for the money not for racing. CART may be a joke right now, but IRL has been a joke since the split up.

That may be true in your opinion. But apparently in the opinion of Honda, Toyota and Chevy the place to be is the IRL. That also seems to trickle down to the teams (all of the good ones except ONE are now in the IRL) and the drivers.
I guess Ganassi, Rahal, Penski and Andretti didn't call you and ask for your opinion. Thats OK, they didn't ask for mine either.

Nor that 6 races into her endurance Road Racing "career" she has yet to finish anything but first. That includes the two races at her licensing school.
I wish I had video of her save in turn 12 at Road Atlanta in February. 9 out of 10 of us would have written off the car (including me). Karl was rendered speechless. I don't think he believed what he saw.

Chevy is gone after 2005. Toyota is likely gone after 2006, if not 2005 also. Honda will not stick around without any competition, and I certainly don't see any likely candidates to step up. Why spend $100 million to take on Honda in a series that no one watches, with one race that gets the same TV ratings as a Saturday night Nextel Cup race on cable?
Ganassi, Rahal, Penske, and Andretti all go where the money is, not because they believe in the IRL concept (whatever that is), and with the possible exception of Penske, none of them have done ANY good to the sport as team owners. Lets see how great they think the IRL is once Toyota and Honda stop funding their teams.
As usual, I'm not going to say that Champ Car is perfect, as that series is in just as bad shape, its just they are no longer on the engine manufacturer teet.

The "whys" aren't important. Money and support is what makes this sport go round and right now IRL has it and CART (or OWRS or whatever) doesn't.
I'm not sure it matters much anymore anyway. People just dont care about this type of racing anymore. And neither series has done anything to effectively change this for the better.
Meanwhile, while they keep arguing with each other, the piece of the pie they are trying to split just keeps getting smaller and smaller as NASCAR methodically buries open wheel's dicks in the dirt for them.
Anybody see ratings numbers for last weekend?
I'm betting IRL got beat by Arena Football (again). OWRS does even worse.

I think right now IRL and Champ Car (they dropped the name OWRS after purchasing CART's assets) are pulling between .4 and .9, and that is including races on network television. Even F1 pulled a 1.4 on CBS last week, and the Craftsman Truck series pulls at least 1.3s on SPEED Channel, which kills the myth that a racing series can't be commercially viable on that channel.
Agreed on the need to quit arguing between the two series, unfortunately the egos are going to keep this from happening. It is going to become as revelent to spectators as your typical SCCA or NASA race before long.

Autoweek said few weeks ago their was supposive talks about reunification which after 2006 seems more likely, now then any other time. Again they have been talking about the Reunification for many years. Lets all pray that it will happen, and somehow Tony George will some how step down. My black civic is gone so Miracles do happen.

Reunification will only mean that there are 4-5 guys with no clue how to run a racing series in charge instead of just one or two.

I don't know what you heard, and I don't know Rahal in person, and I too was pretty pissed that he moved from CART to IRL. But once I saw him being interviewed on TV, and he said the reason he went to IRL is because he had 60+ employees who had families and mouths to feed, and if he stayed in CART he would not be able to keep many of these people on payroll. That gave me new respect for him.
I think your perspective would change if you were one of Rahal's employees with a great paying job in pro racing... I too would want my boss to go where the money is, otherwise I may have to go apply for a post office job... not that there's anything wrong with that, but which would you rather have?
My $.02
