Antifreeze in exhaust... i think Head Gasket
Hey guys,
My friend ran his CRX DX with a busted radiator for a while and now when he tries to start it up anti freeze comes out of the exhaust. I think that means the head gasket is blown but what other things may have been damaged in the process? Also will a headgasket from a CRX Si fit on the CRX Dx? thanks a lot guys,
Matt

yes, that headgasket is the same one. things that could have been damaged, head warped or cracked (likely), block warped or cracked (not so likely, but possible), scoring in the cylinders from the heat/coolant, lubrication problems throughout the engine because the coolant would get into the oil, too.
hmm so then is it faitly likely that the head will need to be replaced, not a big worry since they can be found for less than 30 lol, and the block will need to be honed? To my understanding, it would only need to be honed if there is a scratch going all the way down the cylinder wall or the scratch can be felt with the fingernail? How would I go about figuring out if the head had actually warped?

Actually, I believe you would need to have it bored slightly if it was scratched like that. You should always hone the cylinders anytime you're replacing the rings.
