Default The death of great cars.

"Reuters reported that Honda has over taken Nissan (again) as the second largest Japanese manufacturer as Nissan scales back production of unprofitable cars.

Nissan also announced two sports car icons, the Silvia and Skyline GT-R, will cease production in a few months due to stricter emissions laws in Japan. Nissan is offering a "Limited Final Edition" R34 codenamed the NÜR - probably named after Nürburgring track in Germany where Skyline GT-Rs have held lap record times. The NÜR features a gold colored valve cover and beefed up engine block and parts to handle even more power than the "standard" GT-R plus various trim bits to remind the owner of their exclusivity. Toyota and Mazda will also cease production of the Supra and RX-7s unfortunately.

And as we predicted Nissan did release a new Skyline model in Japan with an 8 speed CVT and called it the GT-8. Its also the first of the new JDM Skyline range to receive the VQ35DE engine also used in the upcoming G35."

It not too hard to understand why most Japanese automaker will do that........just look at the economy in Japan for the past 10 years ( for better understanding check out the NIKKEI 225 hot chart ) ......Japan has been in recession for many years They need to find ways to cut cost and keep their profits.

Screw Reuters!!...They're not telling the whole story!!

YES!...Toyota is ending the Supra line-up, but its suppose to be replace by a V-10 supercar based on the F-1 engine.

Nissan will probably not continue the GT-R lineup...but I am almost positive it will be replaced by some other supercar (if Nissan doesn't run out of money)

Mazda -I'm not too sure of, but there will probably be a new version of the RX-8...

They don't have these motorshows for nothing you know...god damn reuters suck!!...Don't believe everything they say! My 2 yen

anyone can make a car fast by slamming a big engine into it.... ie altima

Too bad their cars suck, and their turbos are poo poo

(all gained by personal ownership/experience)

Dissing the rotarys i'll take rotary over piston anyday of the week..not to mention the cars behind this motors...the 13B is strong as hell , but if you dont know enough about them , you'll blow it. The RX8 comes with a new motor, even smaller than the 13B and makes the same power normal aspirated, and the suspension is just sick!

So people with an engineering degree, know all about rotaries eh? How can crap be fast? Must not be crap. If I could go back to april 98 right now I would have bought a used 94 tt Rx7. Call me what you want. I dont have a degree. I do know that any car is only crap when not properly maintained, rather it be a ITR, Rx7, or Supra.

your friend can be a master NASA mechanic with all types of enginerring degrees...you think that makes a difference? one mans opinion? naa. i dont have a mechanic or an engineering license, but i've done all the work on all of my cars since i was 15 by my self and i know rotarys are not crap, i was making over 550whp on stock 2mm apex seals daily driven with haltech and never had a problem.
