if your are on a budget, do the free mods, loose weight.... remove A/C and p/s. not quite secrets, but they work

Not exactly something you do on a low budget, also not really worth it....
Try free mods like weight removal, AC, PS. Cheap mods like intake/header/exhaust.
Homemade turbo kits and nitrous are usually the way to go. If you dont know what you're doing though, try and find someone that can help you with the work. Someone who actually knows what they are doing and/or has experience. A lot of the small simple things make a difference.

like what komat was saying, a home made turbo kit is great. try looking into used DSM turbo parts to bring komat's $1000 to $500

I agree. Used DSM parts are probably the best way to start. Cheap and pretty easy to work with. Just make sure to check the quality of the parts before you buy (should apply to all buy/sell situations).

REMOVE YOUR POWER STEERING!!!

seriously, it's free and it does make a difference. as long as you're not a woman / old guy / total *****, you should be able to handle it no problem. search for powersteering removal, there's a bunch of stuff on it. or pm me, i can walk you through it.

i swear taking that bs off was like installing a turbo. plus the feedback from the road is awesome. i hate driving cars with ps anymore .. they feel so gay / disconnected. removing the air conditioning made a slight difference too.

keep up with regular maintence. go over your ignition system, flush your engine out, and adjust your valves.

removing the A/C pretty much just shaves some weight. you won't lose hp unless its turned on.
removing the powersteering will free up more hp.

i'd go with a home made turbo

yeah you're probably right about that. but i think it did make a difference. probably just in my head. either way, less weight = faster. ac is for bitches anyway. put the windows down

yeah but no matter how ghetto you do it it's still going to cost a good bit. i'd save up and uh .. buy a real car .. or better yet a house. i was going to do the junkyard turbo thing way back, and all said and done i would have ended up spending over a grand.

i would just go with a 4.9 final drive for half the price and two big bottles for the straights. cheapest way to have fun i guess. don't forget GRIP is lots more fun too. get some sticky tires ,koni shocks, and stiff springs so you can enjoy your 'slow' car.

It can, but with a little time spent shopping, maybe even the help of a friend with cutting tools and a welder, it can be done for a lot cheaper than people think. Just take the time and plan everything out.

haha consider me a bitch for keeping my A/C then. i still have powersteering, but i'll probably take it off in the future. i like no powersteering, but i don't mind having it

keep in mind that probably 80% or more here have street cars, and not drag/track machines.

$1,000+- is average to build a hmt.

Next time you consider making reference to that movie, please just keep it to yourself. I've seen animated car shows that are more realistic than that ****.

Y-8 Exhaust manifold

Y-8/SI tranny- shave stock fluwheel, aftermarket clutch

Manual power steering rack, less total weight than just removing the PS pump and looping the line

No name brand CAI

B-Series throttle body

GSR Exhaust system
