working on friends car... now need radio code
i was working on a friends car and disconnected the batter on a 2003 civic.
now i need the radio code. he didn't get it when he bought the car used. can i call the honda dealership and give them the vin # and get the code?
i can't pull the radio, so can they get it with just the vin #?

What the heck are you talking about?
HONDA WILL NEVER USE SOMETHING LIKE THAT,
Yes call up the dealer and if there cool they give you the code, check the ownners manual and the glove box for a sticker its also been known to be in the trunk as well. Pulling the radio wont do you any good.

I believe in the Audio/Security forum there is a thread to request the radio code. Search in there for your information.
It's here:

Hm.. 3 WI people were the first to respond.

yeah... but in the audio section , they want the serial number to the radio.
i can't pull out the radio.
my friend was just thinking of taking the car to the dealership where he bought it from and ask them if they can give him the code by checking his vin #. he didn't get the code when he got the car, so hopefully they will do it for free.

Well if you read the thread, it states you can take it to honda and they will do it for free. So long as they don't have to pull out the radio, which would be labor. Which means you do need to do it or look within that thread for another method of how to get the serial. I believe that was explained in there as well. Post less, read in that thread some more.

Holy christ, it takes 10-15 minutes, a phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket to remove the radio, stop being lazy and just go pull it.
NVM, thats for a 96-00, but I cant imagine if you follow these directions here, it should take a whole lot longer.
