ignition timing without timing marks/main fuse blown

ignition timing without timing marks/main fuse blown
hey does anybody know how to time the ignition without the timing marks, i know theres got to be another way because some people dont have them. also my main fuse blew, has this happened to anyone else, does anybody know why this would possibly happen?
