Default SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!!!

i have a d16z6 bottom end and a d16y8 head. Are the d16y8 and d16z6 heads different? Am i suppose to do something with the oil jet since i put a y8 head on my z6 bottom end? Im wondering because my VTEC is not working and it has something to do with not enough oil pressure getting to the rocker arms. I have plenty of oil pressure at the sending unit (75PSI @IDLE).

no the check engine light isnt on, i have an RPM switch so there is no sensors for VTEC. and i know the RPM switch works for VTEC. I used to have an obd1 conversion harness and ECU, but that didnt fix it so i sold it because i was hard up for $$. There is something mechanically wrong, solenoid is good, cam is good, rocker arms are good. There is something wrong with oil pressure getting to the head. Are the heads different? Are the oil passages different?

It should require no modifications to the head in order to do this head swap. If you had a z6 in your car, and you were to put in a y8 head, it would be basically the same thing. Vtec should work just as it did before.

What do the manuals say the oil pres should be for both engines?

should have kept that obd1 stuff and troubleshooted with that.

theres lots of reasons vtec wont turn on like VSS signal, and a clear path to the oil pickup in the pan.

that 75 psi is oil pressure not fuel, your sure about that?

well i took the rocket arm assembly off for the 100th time (i can do it with my eyes closed now) and i sprayed compressed air in the oil orifice under the assembly. And i could feel the air coming out of the hole on the VTEC solenoid (i took the solenoid off also). So there is no restriction there. Maybe nothing is wrong? Maybe its just me? But my DOHC ZC feels A LOT faster than this car does! and it shouldnt.

set your rpm switch to turn on at like 6000-6500 rpms then start from a low rpm 2nd gear pull. if vtec is working you will know when the car falls on its face and then power comes back
i've had to do this a few times to make sure mine was still working too

well i advanced the timing about 7 degrees and now it actually feels good on top end. It will break the tires loose at 5,000RPM. IM gonna play with the timing a little more to see if i can get it how i want it. Maybe this is all it was??
