Default RE: 2.5" twin loop Hytech catback exhaust, I spoke to John today

Guys I called John today and inquired about his exhaust. He told me that it'll cost no more than $700 and that in its final design stages that he'll try to minimize its cost.... <$700? Anyhow he told me that he was adding a resonator to it and that at idel it wont be too loud and that the exhaust would be nice and quiet w/o hurting flow or performance. I'm real excited about this as i want to get rid of my Apexi Dunk catback which is loud.

I'm getting old now and I want an exhaust that performs and is quiet too, but at least has a sporty tone w/o being offensively loud. anyhow....I'll keep ya posted.

He has been in the final design stages of his catback exhaust for many, many months...(not a complaint, just an observation)

This thread will be in the archives by the time it actually comes out...and at that point you will be transfered to a waiting list several months long. Good luck!

Thanks for the news.
For $700, I'd jump right on the deal.

Are they going to put these exhaust systems into production?

I'm pretty sure they'll be in production soon....

Just call John and bug him to make you one....$700 is a lot to spend on a exhaust but at the same time the 70mm Kakimoto R costs about the same.....I'd rather get Hytech's

I'll call/email him soon to see what the deal is.

I know what you mean, I've been waiting a long time, he keeps on telling me it'll be ready at a certain date, and then when I call back at that date he says it's not ready yet and tell's me it will be ready by another date, and he just keeps doing that over and over. He also has his excuses. I may just bail on the whole hytech stuff, and yes I am complaining.

LOL, I don't blame you...I would be complaining too if I was a potential customer. I hope it works out for you.

Really? Thats good to know, I'll keep a lookout for the excuse part......
On the other hand the 70mm Kakimoto R might not be too bad afterall?

interesting how most of you guys always talk about how an exhaust doeesn't really give any performance and the money should be spent somewhere else. now u guys are talking about buying a 700 dollar exhaust.

I know that John design the Hytech exhaust to work with the Hytech header. But I wonder will the Hytech exhaust outperform those straight out N1 style exhaust if it is not run with the Hytech header?

Well as some of you guys may know, i have the prototype. Trust me when i say that you are better off being patient.

There will already be changes to the production exhaust vs. what i currently have. It sounds a lot better with the resonator now and John says b-pipes will be resonated now. And as some of you here saw at the dyno day it didn't hurt my numbers either. Need to do some tweeking/production changes to the muffler and then its all good. Exhaust sounds really good now. Its a sleeper. Idle is similar to stock just mellow/deeper. At WOT nice mellow sound...vtec is even better.

Just passing on info..in the end you guys will be much happier. peace.

The 70mm Kakimoto R is a very nice exhaust, it is not loud at all (under 96db) and the 70mm piping will give you more than enough flow for big cams set up. The best part is that it is way under $700.

...how under, is way under, when your buying in the US? If your stocking them, consider this a solicited request for a public posting of pricing for those of us who need more than a 2.5" exhaust for out ITRs in the states...

The retail price for the Kakimoto R is $549USD.
I won't know the stocking information until Monday.

....$700 is a lot to spend on a exhaust.

It is? Have you priced the Mugen loop, which actually still has a little restriction in it?
Yeah I am aware of the price of the Mugen exhaust, I guess the Hytech is a bargain

I'm gonna consider the Kakimoto R as well.. I need something like 2.5" or 70mm in diameter for my mods.
