Default question for all the B18C all motor guys

hey everyone. ive been a member here for not that long, but the site came highly recommended by a few sites that i frequent. with that said: i have a few mods ( you can check them out here ~> http://joelapiana.us/modspage.htm ) and i have on my floor waiting to go out to the shop :Skunk2 Stage II cams, S2 high comp valves, S2 springs, S2 retainers, AEM fuel rail, AEM FPR and B&M pressure gauge. (also have an AEM fuel filter that is supposed to be in a 94 teg, but i plan to make it fit) also still have to throw my prolite flywheel on.

im wondering, with tuning what kinda HP should i expect? what should i do next? should i start on the bottom end? what kinda mods should i go with to get the most power possible? (im a little sad here, i got walked by an SRT-4 today, pulled from me when we both hit 3rd; 15K in the car and still get my assed whooped by a neon...)

thanks for any and all help everyone.

joe

well, i heard many things about Skunk2 products. from what ive read, in the begining they had some trouble with cams breaking and such, but from the most recent reviews of their products i have heard them to be a very reliable product.

and yes, it walked me from 3rd.

i ran my friends srt4 he pulled 3-4 cars on me at the top of 4th gear.
i have 202whp on a hatch too. but keep in mind he only had 3 bolts ons and lay down 260whp and 280 torque those cars can make alot of power easy.

o, i guess as i look back at it i shouldn't really worry much about that SRT4. he is boosted after all.

on the flip side to that what do you all reccomend i do next with the Teg? aside from getting it tuned? thinking maybe a BLOX or S2 intake mani? perhaps an AEBS? <~ i forget if thats the name or not, i forget the name.

thanks

WEIGHT! is important also...i don't feel my car is fast at all..with my fat *** integra..buy anyways??...since ur getting your valvetrain work on..why don't u completely build the head??...v/j and PnP??...im running blox 2 on stock B18c1 compression...and i think u will do better since ur a lil up there

Type-r Intake manifold if fine for yuor set-up. I would not reccommand Skunk2 valves. I'd reccomand Supertech, Rev, and Ferrea.

Skunk 2 valves and valve springs are natorious( sp?) for breaking. Id stay far far away from them.

The type r IM will not bolt onto a gsr head. The bolt pattern is different, so I personally would go with a BLOX or AEBS IM. Also, your cam selection.....a good one, however you will need more than high compression valves to properly run these camshafts. I would suggest doing a jdm ITR piston, put a good flowing header on it(RMF/SMS/Toda) get it tuned and then go look for that SRT-4 again

*EDIT* Get rid of those boom booms you have in there, unnecesary weight = in racing

are they really that bad? i did some research on them and i didn't get much nay-say about Skunk products. other than the fact when they first started out.

cleanrice - thanks for the comment. i plan on building my bottom end sooner or later. and when it comes to bottom end ihave no clue what i am talking about. i decided to go with building the head firsst because i actually have a leaky valve or two and its caueing an oil leak. so you're saying ITR Pistons and a better header along with a BLO IM?

my compression as of right now should be around 10.6:1 or so. what ways can i increase that without going to the block? don't get me wrong, i do plan on building the block but probably not until next season. this is my daily driver for now.

all of your help and input is greatly appreciated everyone

thanks

joe

ya a stock one...one with a boost controller would smoke you...

as for the skunk2 springs there is multiple threads with pics of them breaking...they all pretty much broke the same way to....since your a b18c your intake manifold options are limited....but i would say try the new skunk2 pro intake manifold....and their cams are also very good...the skunk2 stg2's are pretty much the most killer street/strip cam out there....
to increase compression you can run a thinner headgasket and mill the head a little but that decreases your piston to valve clearance which could be fatal to your motor....just my 2cents

Itr pistons, BLOX IM, tuned and you'll be haulin ***. I personally don't like to cut the head or deck the block, but you can do that if need be. Omni did it and made a very very powerful motor, but thats Omni. Besides valves and headgasket, there isn't much you can do to raise compression, and keep in mind you will need to pull the head to put your valves in. Good luck man

On a stock ECU, tuned with a VAFC2.

if you have spent 15 gs and still no power..
Sell everything now and get a k20a R...

I have in eg put down 211.1 145 tq untuned.. motor had 7000 miles. you can spend about 7500-9000 on full swap so you also get the 6spd and lsd for that installed etc. SRT's NO PROB.
