Whats the best intake for an itr?
Aem, Iceman, Comptech Icebox, Mugen, Spoon drop in, k&n drop in, arc elbow with box.... can somebody give me opinions on them all....
For a allmotor car
1.whats would the best intake be for starters?
2.what would be the best intake for fully built engines?

yes i remeber a long time ago AEBS did so dynos to see what made the most power and i belive it was the full stock intake w/o the bottom yet superstreet still said the aem made more those lying bastards......not everthing you read in superstreet is ture

My Bone Stock (Engine wise) R produce the same HP compared to an R with Injen intake..(my R has about 3K more miles when we dyno)...
so I think Intake won't add too much HP....
just an opinion though...

I like the AEM cold air that I have. I hate having to worry about rain. If you get one I wouldn't recomend the bypass valve I have heard that the foam they put around it will get sucked into an intake port.

gee i dont know, maybe you should listen to probably the fastest NA ITR on this board, he just might know what hes talking about, but then again what does he know? (sgt knows what the f hes talkin about

Any thing that you can do to get colder air into the cylinder is going to increase performance. The colder the air the denser it becomes. It doesn't take a degree in physics to figure that it will increase perfomance. Now is it worth the money? That all depends on the invidual. With the price manufactures charge for these parts i think we all get *** raped. You might be able to get the same perfomance from a peice of three inch pvc. it would be heavier, but it may also insulate under hood tempratures a little better.
and a longer intake tract also increases low end power while taking away
from high rpm. also throttle response is not as good.
Cold air is only useful at idle sitting still.

Just curious as to why you haven't tried an aftermarket short tube intake like the Icebox or Mugen? I dynoed Icebox v. stock (w/ no resonator) with the stock paper filter in place and the Icebox made 2-4 whp more across the entire RPM range.
Why would cold air only be good at an idle? I have noticed better throttle response with the AEM then the stock intake and the top end was better. I mean I can tell a difference when the air temprature in the atmosphere changes. I always run better times. Also it makes a difference on a dyno. I know that you have to worry about the scavenging effect with the valve overlap but that is more to do with your header or exhaust manifold.
Just out of curiosity ICEBOX add 2-4 WHP on Mustang or DynoJet?
AEM = too loud... I don't really want it..
ICEBOX = was gonna do, but heard people having scrubbing problem...
so I think K&N replacement shouldn't be bad.. hehe

What is the "scrubbing" problem with the Icebox?
4whp peak on a Dynojet...but no losses anywhere (and remember, this was with the stock filter in place)

LOL, I get it now...you said scrubbing, but meant rubbing. I don't know why I didn't realize that the first time
. I'll agree that it is NOT an OEM quality piece, but it sure seems to fit a hell of a lot better than the AEM. I just readjusted my Icebox not too long ago and moved some of the AC lines about half an inch. Nothing has changed since then, so I think it is fine.
