crx with sohc vtec d16z6.. Will any obd0 ecu work right? or just go obd1?
Just a quick question I thought I was going with a zc but i might have found my original likeing a sohc vtec motor for a good price. Now I was just reading about converting it to obd1... Now is that the best way to go or will any obd0 vtec ecu like from a b16 run the motor right? If not then how hard is it to make it obd1 if using everything rywire.com sells?
get a conversion harness and use a p28.
its doesnt look too hard, im using that method with my brother for his 1988 STD hatch later this week on a z6 mini-me actually.

The best bet is to go obd1 with a p28, obd1 dizzy, and a 4 wire o2. If you did go obd0, activating vtec is kinda ghetto, and the dizzy hardly fits (1 bolt).

The obd0-1 jumper harness is all plug and play, we require a switch attached to easily check the codes(you could also just touch the wires together if you are lazy).
The 0-1 dizzy jumper is plug and play.
And... The sub harness come pre attached to the ecu jumper, so thats just plug and play as well.
If you are going dpfi to mpfi, there is just a tad bit of repinning at the ecu that you have to do. There is directions, and it is necessary with any dpfi to mpfi no matter what.

the "best" way it to go OBD1 and P28 chipped, because its the ecu designed for the engine, and OBD1 is more tuner friendly
if u wanna stay OBDO u got a few choices:
1- PM6/PG7/PR4 with VAFC or Field's SFC-VTEC or RPM switch
2- Zdyne 1 wire ECU or SECU
3-PS9 chipped with TurboEdit with the 1 wire VTEC mod
4- PM6 chipped with TurboEdit with 1 wire VTEC mod
5-u can use a PR3/PWO B series ECU on it

it is an hf, and i was choosing all the stuff from the site as being an si since its the same wiring. So it comes with directions and is very simple in other words... if that would be the best route then that is the route I will go if I can get this motor that I am looking at. I honestly think this will be cheaper or the same price if I would have got a dohc zc.. I want it done right but am trying to spend under 2 grand installed.
i did the convertion and Id recommend. that motor pulls better with the obd 1 convertion, obd 1 distributor and the p28 ecu. youll like it better, I garrenty it.
also I got some of my wiring from rywire. they make the entire obd 0 to 1 convertion.
