Default Intermitting brake light problem...Help please!!

I have this problem with my brake lights. The problem is they work now and then. I have a 97 honda accord lx sedan. I am wondering what could cause that intermitting brake problem like that. I have already replaced the bulbs. I checked for a fuse but didn't see one. If anyone can tell me why my brakes are intermitting that would be great. thanks alot, cause I really don't want to bring it to honda and have them charge me $300 to fix the problem. all help welcome.

it is not a fuse a bad fuse would make the brake lite not work at all ,,,since yours are intermmit it might be a brake switch ,,

ok, good point that is true, no a for the brake switch. Could you please tell me where that is located at. Is it the same switch that is used for the windsshield wipers and blinkers. Cause my winshield wippers don't work when ou put them at intermettient, only slow and fast. Also I had changed the brake bulbs and both sides were blown as if they had to drawn too much current. I wonder if not the switch maybe a ground or something. But if you know where the switch is could you please tell me? thanks alot for your time.

switch is located on the brake pedal , look under dash if you follow pedal upward you cant miss it

in the book it told me to check the switch with a ohm meter and it failed the test so Im gonna replace it. the only thing is that the switch is straight above the pedal i believe (someone please confirm). I would replace that, becuase all of the wires were confusing me. I know i checked the wire but should replace the switch?

it's definitely the switch... buy it and look under the dash near the brake pedal for something that looks the same and seems to be affected by the brake pedal. Replace it with the purchased switch. Pretty sure this is a brake switch problem, not wiring.

Plus if the switch doesn't fix the problem, put the old one back in and return the new one. Can't go wrong.

This topic is 9 years old and has no answer to solving the issue. I am wondering what the final result was?
