i have a 90 dx hb and ive done the mpfi conversion, aem cai, dc header, and 2" exhaust. next will be a d15b7 head that will be ported and polished with a valve job and an aftermarket cam. i am using a stock 91 si ecu. after all is done, will i need a better ecu? if so, which one would you recommend and will there be any wiring changes?

 

you could go with a d16a1(1st gen teg) ecu. higher redline and more agressive fuel and ignition maps would go well with your setup esp. with the cams. your best bet is probably calling zdyne or some place that has ecu's or reprograms ecus and tell them your setup. they should be able to get you one that matches your specs. i haven't really been paying attention with ecu upgrades, but they should have re-programmed ecu's by now

 

will i have to make any wiring changes if i use the d16a1 ecu, and also will my exsisting harness plug right into the d16a1 ecu?

As long as you use a 88 or 89 teg ecu you should be fine.

dont use it its not a good ecu for ur motor y bother ur using a d16a6 ecu wich gives ur engine more than enough fuel it should be running a bit rich since it has less displacement mine does. and u dont want a higher redline ur motor will thank u. the 88 89 teg ecu doesnt fit really in the spot for the ecu since its made to go under the seat but its not worth buying another ecu it wont help u anyway
