Default What to do next? All Motor B16 CRX

I have an '85 CRX with the following mods:

OBDI Integra Xsi B16
Crane Stage 1 cams
AEM Cam Gears
Mugen Headgasket
JDM ITR 4-1
2.25" Header back exhaust
AEM Short Ram Intake
Mugen Chip
Tokio Illumiinas and GC's
Riding on Falken Azenis

The car is pretty stripped and weighs in right around ~1800lbs.

I feel like I'm at a crossroads because anything else that I could do all motor would be internal modifications that I dont have the resources to do myself and really couldnt afford to pay a shop.

So what would you guys suggest as my next mod? By the end of the summer I'd like low 13's maybe even a shot at high 12's. Thanks for the help.

i don't see why you wouldn't hit 13's like it is... want low 13's high 12's? just try some slicks.

Maybe an ITR or sk2 intake manifold and TB?

Is it tuned at all other than the mugen chip?

More aggressive cams?

Not sure if its worth doing pistons as xsi pistons are supposed to be pretty good.

Yes its a quick car as-is. But modding it is one of my hobbies and I cant leave well enough alone

Is an ITR intake manifold/throttle body worth the money for my setup?

A good clutch, slicks and tuning.

BTW, you should hit up redpepperracing if you haven't already. It's dedicated to your type of car.

Do a type r or BLOX IM. Get those god damn Azenis' off of there....tjose tires are way to big for that car, damn I hate those tires. Do a clutch and flywheel, slicks and launch at a very high rpm..you'll do 13's no problem. Pm me for tire suggestions if you want....9 years in the tire buisness

I hate the Azenis' for so many reasons. The biggest one is that they are the most horrible tire that I have ever driven on in the rain. They ride like a 10 ply tire, sure the sidewalls don't flex, but hell....a 195-50-15 Toyo Proxes 4 handles better than the Azenis does and it rides ALLOT smoother. Plus the fact that it last longer, hands down is better in the rain, and it's not so god damn noisy. Azenis = 1.) The worst handling tire in the wet - 2.) Rides like **** - 3.) Noisier than hell - 4.) They look like friggin mud boggin tires with that enormous sidewall.

I have driven on many many tires, and the company I work for sells the Azenis, but I never ever reccommend them, I got rid of mine after only 300 miles of use.....hated them.

Sammy: you should have just made a poll on teh few options you are asking about.... with a well breathing setup like you have, ESPECIALLY with that exhaust and catback, maybe a bigger TB and better flowing intake manifold would compliment it nice.... Its a fairly well priced upgrade. May i recommend the AEBS manifold which is dyno proven to outflow the ITR, and very well priced...and perhaps just maxboring your oem TB to give you ~4 mm extra. Woudlnt be a huge power kick, but would help your motor to breathe better....then get a set of slicks and start practicing, since it sounds like your the strip type .

Sounds like your confusing cheap tires with GOOD tires...hahahahah

I can agree with alot of that. I too am in the tire business, don't care for the azenis, and I do sell them along with Toyo, and would prefer Toyo over any other tire. The RA1 is IMO a better auto x tire. Most peeps buy the Azenis for looks and to "fit in", but they hook like **** off of a launch.

Oh yeah, to answer the initial question. I would look at the AEBS IM and a better TB. I run the AEBS and 62mm TB on my rex, they work well together, no complaints here. My setup isn't as good as yours but I just started...
B16
AEBS IM
BBK 62mm TB
Fidanza 8lb flywheel
NKK clutch
CTR N1 pulley
Megan stainless header
Magnaflow 2.5" exhaust with 18" stainless muff.

somebody feel free to correct me if i'm wrong because i haven't been auto-xing too often, but aren't Azenis still considered a street tire, where as the RA-1s aren't?

I'm thinking most people use Azenis because they can still compete in the street class with those tires.

Again, i haven't been auto-x too many times, but that's my opinion.

The RA-1's are a street legal tire, however they will not last as long as the Azenis will. If you're looking for a longer lasting, better handling, smoother riding, daily driven tire over the Azenis.....then the Toyo Proxes 4 is your tire.....

Not to egg on the debate. But the RA-! is indeed a dot approved street tire. You won't have much of a tread life in day to day driving. 2 great tires-Proxes 4 and the T1-S (the T1S won't last long either, but is a very good tire)

alright back to topic guys help the guy out who wants to go fast

as stated you should already be in the 13s

if not this should help

pull the head off and have it milled like .020 add aggresive cams and valvetrain to support them also a blox, aebs, itr or skunk 2 intake manifold using a 62mm tb then throw in a good clutch and slicks and you could possibly hit 12s but most likley low low 13s
