Bad night, clutch problem
I was up in newark Nj at the races watching races. I seen some cars running pretty strong so I decided to run one.. I whomped on a Ls 4 door and pooped all over a b16 coupe. I was lined up to race a newer integra and I had the clutch pushed in revin at 3k waitin to launch when suddenly the clutch engaged or so and the car stalled. I could get the car in gear if I started it and pushed the clutch down. I had to start the car in gear so it would roll off the start so I could get home. I have absolutly no clutch disengage ment. I had to just rev match w/o the clutch all the way home. My question is to what could have happened? Its a brand new exedy stage 1 clutch. I broke it in correctly 1500-2000 miles or so. Didnt beat on the car until tonight. I was thinkin something like the clutch exploded, the pressure plate shattered or the throw out bearing broke. Any ideas?

i have the same clutch stage one exedy clutch i love it. i beat the **** out of it everyday.so far 15000 miles on it still grabs hard. yes you blew the disk out. that's what happened to me on my stock clutch. the springs on the disk just break. did you buy your clutch of ebay b/c it might be a fake. plus if its real you have a warranty they will simply replace it. and i also drive it alot in the city im surprised how well it works. the first thing i would check the clutch master cylinder for fluid. i think something broke their from what your telling me or it could be your slave cylinder. and it wont hurt to re-bleed it and see if it helps if not sorry i tried. i strongly dont think you broke your clutch all ready with only 1200 miles. something to do with the hydraulic system. sorry if i dont make any sence what i just said b/c its 4 50 am in the morning and im still some what drunk. im going to bed later
Well its a cable tranny. How do can I bleed the slave cylinder? And if I blew the clutch would I be able to drive home? I mean its gotta be highly impossible for me to blow it out.. It still disengages sometimes its like the through bearing is stuck or something. When I start the car in gear it goes as if I were revving it high to let the clutch out. Its really weird. any other suggestions?
If you have a cable tranny... what is there to "bleed"? There's no fluid... and you don't even have a slave cylinder.
Might be a stupid question but did you check your cable to see if it snapped?
sounds like u threw hte throw out bearing. but its still a possibility that u shattered the disc. im doubting that it was the disc because u said that u broke it in properly without beating on it.
this is also kinda why i have mixed feelings about exedy's, iv heard a ton of good things, and iv heard a ton of **** about them. thats why i went with the act 6 puck disc. pricey, yet pure performance

i live in nj too were in Newark are these races ?
i normally go to new york every Sunday theirs like about 1500 people their. its great. yea since you said that you have a cable. i would check that out or maybe you just need to adjust it. and how much power is in your car ? i highly doubt you broke your pressure plate and about the throwout bearing do you like hold your clutch pedal down at ever traffic light or hold the pedal down while like cruising b/c that's the only way i think you can blow out your bearing so quickly. oh yea did you get your fly wheel resurfaced? if you didn't that might be the problem b/c i herd way back when i was looking info on clutches that they break like at 3000 miles if you don't resurface them i know i did on mine and did you change your pilot bearing ? i did that too i changed everything. so your telling me when you start your car in gear that it would move as you crank that means your clutch doesn't disengage witch means you broke the clutch or the cable is snapped. i would check in back of your pedal and see if the cable is still connected their that's were my friends cable broke from. oh yea is it making alot of noise and when you press the clutch does the noise go away or lessens ?
