Default How much for a '01 ITR?

Hey,

I saw a black 2001 ITR in the paper for $22,500. It has 8,105 miles and the ad says it never has been raced. How much should I pay for this car? I have been having a difficult time finding a fair price for this on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds.com has the price listed for ~$17,000. I appreciate your help with this.

Thank you

I'd say... 21k.

I think $21.5k-22.5k is reasonable. Remember, the MSRP went up to ~$24.9k the last year. Also, I highly doubt that the car has "never been raced!"

I think it`s a VERY good price, BUT the market sucks right now. If you stuck some some cash in his face I`d bet he`d sell for 22 or maybe even less. Check out nada.com, it`s hard for those blue-book losers to give the car a fair price since there are so few. Book value should be over 22.5 for that car as long as it is in perfect shape.
$23,000 would be reasonable (perfect shape - no mods) but not right now. I KNOW the market, believe me on that one.
I have to sell mine ASAP and I`m at $22,000 right now which was my bottom line but I`m going to have to sell for less just to get rid of it. Too many on the market right now.

Cosworth,
Why do you doubt the car "has never been raced"? I`ve never raced mine.
Do you know this person selling?
If not, I doubt you are a winner. Fair is fair.
Sounds like you have issues with your own personality in regards to owning/driving an auto responsibly.
Not to start a war here but that really irks me when people project their own problems into someone else`s affairs. How old are you cosworth? 16? 17?
I`ll go out on a limb here and say unless you personally know the guy/girl selling, shut up.
Sorry Cos but that siht pisses me off and maybe you meant no harm but.....whatever.

BTW, if you really want to have an idea whether or not it`s been beat, check the wear on the tires. Should have about half tread left on the STOCK tires if it hasn`t been. If the tires are not stock at all then go with Cosworth on this one and assume some heavy driving.

BD - I don't know why you're getting all pissy (maybe 'cuz you can't sell your car? ), but did you every think that maybe your definition of "race" and my definition of "race" is different. To me, when a person states that it has "never been race", then it must've been kept under the VTEC engagement point at all times. (i.e driven tamely.) A "race" does not constitute someone beating the car up in an open track or autoX or drag or whatever. So, having my definition of "race" been stated, hope you know what I meant. (And, you know very well that owning an ITR means having to hit VTEC on a winding road...)

Also, you think I'm 16 or 17? LOL... Where did you get that idea that I am an irresponsible driver in the first place? WTH? I'm sure you're just so much older than most of us on this board, right? Just have a or two and chill. No need to get your panties in bunches 'cuz you can't sell yours.

Once again, going back to the original post: $21.5K = $22.5K is a very reasonable price.

Cosworth,
It`s just that time of the month for me. So take no offense.

That`s a pretty liberal definition of racing one`s car. Start a poll and see how many agree with that.

I would define a car that has been "raced" as one that has either (a) been on a racetrack or a dragstrip in a timed or competitive event, or (b) been in a timed or competitive event on the street (unfortunate as that may be).

There is a gray area for cars that have been "tracked" but not necessarily "raced" - if a car has been in a drivers school on a racetrack, for example. Here you're just getting into semantics IMO; if it's been on a track, I wouldn't say that it's never been raced.

I wouldn't believe anyone who claimed they had never had their ITR in VTEC range (over 6000 rpm) - if it were true, they would only prove themselves to be foolish for buying the car and never using its capabilities.

that doens't mean the R has never been raced.. that mean it has never been "driven"

I think that 22,500 is fair. That is probably close to his pay off on it. If you think about the intrest and taxes that he had on 24900 if he got it that cheap. the intrest rate through AHFC was 5.9. I think that 22,500 is a reasonable price and he only has 8000 miles on it. IT couldn't have been ragged to hard with that low of mileage.

Sooner or later one would engage VTEC simply by mistake.
And I`m pretty sure Honda/Acura would warranty your car if you are caught "engaging VTEC" but most likely not if caught "racing".

WHy is people selling their R... I just can't understand.. it is a work of art!..
Too bad I am broke and can only afford one.. otherwise, I'll buy another one..

CW or NBP preferably..

oh yeah, the 1st owner of my R said: "it is not fun if you drive this car below 6K RPM..." Obviously, He VTEC-it ....
but for being Raced, it is a gray area.. he just said that a lot of ricers tried to race him, but most of the time, he can't do a thing(he is just married and expecting his 1st baby)
What matters is that when I dyno my R, 158WHP@Mustang.. so it is all

Ahhh... lots o' Power hour (however you say it) was good for me...

I agree with nsxtjr... if people don't hit VTEC in an ITR, they shouldn't have bought it in the first place. It was meant to be driven and I don't know how someone can say that it's never been driven hard. When it's driven, it's driven hard. There's no middle ground when VTEC engages... you either rip through the roads, cones, or strip _or_ you just step on the brake and are driving an over-priced Civic.

BD - maybe you should sell your car to the original poster... then we can all be happy and have lots o' Cheers.
