Cooling intake manifold REAL cold will it crack?
Well i was reading some info and it said that these k series get real hot air because of being right behind the radiator. So yes a CAI will make a difference, then the hondata gasket but lets leave the gasket out for a sec.
these aluminum intake manifold im not sure if it will crack if it gets freezing cold. Im talking cold cold. I was thinking of running my little electric CO2 mod to hit the intake manifold and some of the CAI. Now a simple way to explain it is when u open the valve, or flick the switch in this case, a tube will allow ICE cold CO2 to spray on the intake manifold, no obviously dont go out there and put the can under your hood because it will explode, but if you put it in your car your good to go(member it still gets hot in the car). see the Co2 canister will be from say a paintball gun so you can take it off put it in the house then one time say you go to the track or to a friday night cruise to find someone and you lock and load. but will this put a crack the size of rosie odonnel in the manifold or what?

bump to reply! been a few hours and no one answered...any heat sheild type to keep more heat from the intake manifold? maybe run a tube from the air dam to the intake mani??
Something tells me this is not a good idea. The coldness will surely be the coldest spot in the engine bay and what you said might happen...crack!
Other than that, I would be weary of the Co2 (air) in the engine bay too. Just redirect the CAI to take in the coldest and freshest air from the vents.

if you dont know this i'll go ahead and tell you. CO2 can hydrolock a engine. Not that you would be spraying it in the airstream but if somehow enough got in the motor could lock. I know this sounds like bullshit but it is true. CO2 is not compressable same as fluids. I have actually seen someone lock a detroit deisel(18 wheeler engine) that was runing away (fuel was cut but it was running of its engine oil and overreving) with a CO2 fire extinguisher. THe rods came out bent into a C shape just like it had hydrolocked. It would be improbable in your case but still something to consider.
hmm good points...i guess i can run a CAI and just freeze the cai up high because that wont be near anywhere that it can get in the motor nor on the intake manifold. See, thos is a method used on turbo intercoolers, and also water like take your squiter for your window and re route the hose to your inter cooler...i guess i can also fab up a tube to run under the intake manifold so fresh air hits it just the cooler the better
