Default Need good Rex advice.

I'm looking to buy a rex. One for show N go. I plan on a full engine swap. Should I just go for the cheapest one or actually look? But if anyne has a decently cheap one hit me up with a pm or email.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Driven &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Question:
What's the BEST engine for my Honda?

Answer:
125cc Honda dirt bike motor. It weighs under 50lbs, revs to 10000rpms, and makes 320hp/liter.

There, now that we solved the question that is constantly on everyone's mind, let's talk about pizza.

Seriously now, the best engine for your honda is WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD TO BUY!

If you have $1000, DOHC ZC.
If you have $2000, get a 1st gen b16a. It'll cost that much to get it in.
If you have $4000, get a GSR/B18C1.
If you have $5500, get a ITR/B18C5.
If you have $10K, and no use for your car for a month or two... get a K20.
Edited for the Whiners:
This is NOT a complete list, as there are mini-mes, LS-VTEC swaps, budget/poor man's ITRs, etc. Use the damn search button a bit more religiously.

What's the best engine for boost... the one that gets TUNED properly.
What's the best engine for drag racing... the one you spend the most money on making FAST.
What's the best engine for road racing... same thing.
What's the most reliable engine... the one you MAINTAIN religiously.
What's the cheapest engine... the one that's in your car.

Good point, I didn't think of it that way. I think I'm gonna do a B18C5 cause I cna get them a little cheaper plus my best friend owns an import garage. But I gotta find a Rex or hatch first.

The B18C5 is really overpriced unless you can find them LEGALLY for dirt cheap. I'm more of a fan of building a B18C1 or hell, a B18B to make more power then a C5. The only good thing IMO that comes out of the C5 swap is the JDM transmission.

If your concerned about the show part of the car you should consider finding a rex with a perfect or close to perfect body. You will not stop rust. I wouldn't even try. Spend the money on the car and save for the motor.

yeah I agree but I've been thinking...I want to get better at my body work so I found a 86 CRX for 250 and it's got a lil rust so I could do a engine swap. Is that a bad idea or should I just continue to save for a 88-91 rex?

.... first gens (84-87) can be sick cars. they are a good deal more work however, and less engines fit into them. theye usually require a good deal of CRX experience.

i think you have some more seraching to do.

just buy what you want, and do what you want. dont get caught up in the hype or start doing cocaine and put a 1999 civic frontend on the car or something. but even that doesnt matter.

when the day is done, you still have to get into it every morning. so not to be a dick, but no one here can help you with what your asking, bc we arent you.

heres the vehicle classifieds however, theres lots of EF's in here (you wont find any in this tech section since they cant be posted here):

get as much stuff as you can at one time. You don't want the turbo to screw your pistons all up over workin them so wait for the rods...but I could be wrong.
