Default lsvtec lifespan

I just wanted to see how many miles peoples lsvtec motors are lasting.

Ive heard they dont last as long because of the r/s ratio but i wanted to hear from some peaple with first hand experiance.

I know how long an engine will last is a direct reflection of how well it was built.
I wanted to hear from actual lsvtec owners and how long there motors have lasted.

My brother has a stock bottom end ls/Vtec that has 14,000 miles of abuse with a 50 shot of nitrous! It still runs fine. just make sure you have it tuned and it should last.

Keep 'em coming....Im always hearing about all these unreliable LSVTEC motors. Im pretty sure if you don't pound on the motor and build it up nice, it'll last.

i bought this head from this guy in cali for 1700 and i just put it on my motor that had 40000 miles. the guy said the head would make most power at 11000 to 12000. It was p&p dual springs itr cams titanium valves. and retainers. So i put it on with aebs head studs and golden eagle ls vtec kit and a aebs intake mani AEM air intake full MSD ignition and let her fly!!!!!!!

Is 15,000 miles supposed to be impressive or something? If its a daily driven car, 15,000 miles is equivalent to anything from 6 months to a year depending on how often/far the car is driven. If you only got 15,000 miles out of a motor, thats pretty sad.

50k 3 years 8k every day. stock bottom end and stock b16 head. ls bottom was not rebuilt all oem parts untouched. it made 162whp 132tq with gsr cams b16 exh. manifold. i missshifted from 3rd to fourth and went to second and on the vafc it read 9929 was the highest rpm reached and it still lived nothing broken. i took it out of the car and it was still running strong after 3 years. leak down test was starting at number one cylinder. 10 2 3 2 % which was surprising. donf on the board mounted the head on the block and modified it for vtec. he can vouch for the info i am giving.

just do it right and it will live. dont expect to get results like i did though there have not been many engines that lived like it. but do it right the first time and it will be fine. and make sure you take care of it.
