Default bushing...

i purchased a gsr rear sway bar for my del sol... the bushing around the bracket connecting to the control arm looks broken apart. how long do bushings usually last for? what would happen if i do not replace it? thank you.

Does it really matter what could happen if you don't replace it? The part costs $6.23 at http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org so the question is, why would you not replace it?
