NHRA Street Stock Motivation!
Well, this speaks for itself, should be some major motivation for some of you in COMP 4 who didn't want to run this class. Heck, you don't even need to buy the tires as you can use their tires and wheels if you want.

Wow, I wish I was around for this class this season. Thanks BFGoodrich and NHRA.

When it comes to ultra-high-performance drag racing, BFGoodrich Tires is no stranger to speed. BFGoodrich Tires’ commitment to sport compact drag racing will be on display throughout the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing season with three new and exciting activities, ensuring fans enjoy high-adrenaline, head-to-head action across the country. With an all-new Street Stock category, the first bounty system in NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing, and the popular Race Our Rubber program, BFGoodrich Tires is making its presence felt in the sport compact drag racing world.
New for 2005, BFGoodrich Tires is sponsoring a radial-tire, Street Stock category in the NHRA Sport Compact Series. To generate interest in the new class and focus attention on its high-performance radial tires, BFGoodrich Tires established a first for the NHRA Sport Compact series – a bounty system. At the end of the season, BFGoodrich Tires will award $2,500 to the racer who recorded the fastest quarter-mile speed during the 2005 season and another $2,500 to the racer who recorded the quickest elapsed time down the dragstrip. Never before has a company stepped up to the plate and offered amateur racers $5,000 to do what they do best – race.
“We are very excited about the new Street Stock class and hope that the BFGoodrich Tires bounty system will get current and new racers equally excited about the class,” said Todd Steen, BFGoodrich Tires motorsports manager. “Bragging rights and trophies are great after a race, but a wallet full of money is even better!”
The Street Stock category debuted at the BFGoodrich Tires-sponsored NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing Series season opener in Florida. Luis Soto, a Coral Springs, Fla., native, outran each of his opponents to the finish line en route to the first Street Stock victory. By running low elapsed time and top speed of the event, Soto established the national record (13.478 seconds, 102.86 mph) for his category. With nine races remaining on the 2005 schedule, competitors across the country will have to top Soto’s debut performance numbers to collect the BFGoodrich Tires $5,000 bounty.
“We are pleased that BFGoodrich Tires has expanded its involvement in the NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing Series with its sponsorship of our new Street Stock category,” said Gary Raasch, director of marketing for the five-year-old sport compact series. “In addition, the BFGoodrich bounty system will be one of the most competitive bonus programs of the season. It is yet another initiative designed to reward and recognize our loyal Sportsman racers.”
In addition to its support of the new category and its lucrative bounty system, BFGoodrich Tires will continue its popular Race Our Rubber program. Competitors with a valid driver’s license, credit card, and signed waiver can swap out competitor tires for a set of BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial tires for a race weekend.
BFGoodrich Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high-performance tire for every type of vehicle from ultra-high-performance tuner vehicles, sports cars, and SUVs to the hottest sport trucks, pickups, and rock-crawling rigs in the world.
BFGoodrich Tires has built its reputation on using motorsports as a proving ground. Success on the street begins with winning on the track, and BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, road, drag, desert, and extreme rock crawling. With 19 consecutive Baja 1000 wins, the most wins in rock-crawling history, and an unmatched record on pavement, BFGoodrich Tires has proven that the only records it breaks are its own. Just an FYI--
To win the bounty the record ET and MPH have to be run on BFGoodrich Tires and you have to run the BFGoodrich Tires NHRA Street Stock decals.
NHRA will have the decals at each event.
Good luck to everyone.
More exciting news to come...
