Default smoking?! why?!

first let me say i have 198k on my motor. when i accelerate it makes a sorta medium gray almost a dark gray smoke. usually the heavier the acceleration the worse the smoke. but when i floor it good god its a freakin smoke screen. so what is makin it do that? i have very little oil consumption (maybe a quart every 2k or so) and i get pretty good gas mileage (340 miles per tank) so what could it be. thanks for any help

Sounds like you just have too much fuel going into the cylinders, like the other guy pointed out.

Black smoke = fuel
Blue smoke = oil
White smoke = water

like I IMd you, Pull your plugs and check them. Let us know what they look like.

Also, just for grins, check the coolant level, and make sure there isn't oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil. (Pull the oil cap and look for a white haze.) Also, has it overheated at all or does it run hot?

Sounds to me like piston rings & valve seals! Time for a rebuild buddy, or motor swap!
