Default Let's talk about the spoon dc2R gauge cluster...

I already did a search and looked in the FAQ.

But I do remember reading something abou the wiring or something needs to be changed a bit.....?

Anyway, my question is what things are missing from the spoon gauge cluster that the usdm itr cluster has. Is there a 96 spec or 98 spec version for spoon?

I know the jdm itr clusters have a cat warming up light or something similar...

Are there any lights in the usdm itr cluster that aren't in the spoon one?

When purchasing a spoon cluster for the itr, what should one be on the lookout for?

if you get a 98+ one and put it in a model befor 98, than you have to switch the green backing from your stock one to the spoon one. then it works fine!

There are definitely 2 versions - a 96 spec and a 98 spec.

Yosh can answer these questions in detail

where is #234's infamous owner?

anyway, from what I've been told (thanks B2FINITY) to convert from 96 spec to 98 spec you can either swap the circuit strip on the back, or swap the gauges over...

ricer!

only a truuu HYPEE ARRRR owner would buy a spoon cluster for the mega cash it costs

you obviously need the bling bling

btw, you do realize that everyone will try to steal that cluster and it makes the car harder to sell after, when ur odometer doesnt match up or when u put the stock one back and the mileage hasnt changed

You could always remember what the km is on ur spoon scluster when u put it in. Then when u go to sell your car take the spoon one out calculate how many miles u've driven and then pop open ur stock cluster and change the mileage to be correct. Not that hard man takes like 30 mins.

As far as the icons are concerned, I think you'd be okay...as I don't recall significant differences between the 2.

If you want to be 100%, leave me an IM and I will check the difference when I get home.

If you don't want miles to change, put the usdm speedo into your spoon cluster. It will be mighty ugly though

So you are not buying the lugs for looks eh? Sure you aren't.

There is one reason and one reason ONLY to have extended lugs (unless of course you like how they look, but of course you dont buy for looks!!)</TD></TR></TABLE>

Hahaha a ricer bashing Black R!!!!!!!!! (no Chris N's not teh riceRRRR)

my cluster (98spec) on a 2001 itr was not plug and play.

i first installed it w/o modification and found these funny issues:
-with hazard lights on, the tachometer and speedometer would "bounce".
-the gas tank gauge didn't work.
-the left and right arrows would both illuminate regardless of switching to the left or right.
-dimmer didn't work.

so, as many are saying, i swapped the green board - spoon for usdm - and transferred the "triangular pod" from the usdm cluster with the check engine light over to the spoon cluster. works perfectly.

i have seen pre 98 spec with the cat heat up icon and post 98 clusters with that icon so im not totally sure what the deal is with that. i put in the cluster without the cat heat up icon and changed the printed circuit and it was good in my 01 R i felt however that the tach was 200 to 300 rpm off but that could be and illusion
