What are City Lights?
i know that city lights come on the ctr lights and prelude lights but im not sure what else, basically they are a setting for really dim healights. alot of people call them day lights
yeah for some cars they come standard. basically the lights are on all the time. my moms 99 camry has them on all the time and i believe they have a sensor so when it gets even darker it hits the nite headlights automatically, and also the interior lights light up as well.
If you look at the left hand light of my car. You'll see a small blue bulb below and to the left of the headlight bulb (inside the main headlight housing), thats a city light. We call them side lights in the UK.

They take 5w capless bulbs.

They in small lights installed in the headlamp housings and are turned on when you turn the parking lights on. In Japan, there are enough bright lights, that headlamps are not always required, so the city lights are turned on to be visible.

Here in the U.S....yes, I would agree with that. Because they are brighter and allow vehicles to be seen better in the daylight.
In Japan, however, where their safety standards don't match up to ours, well, that's a different story...
