PLZ HELP- ABS system (light is on) ?
Hello, I have been a frequent reader of this site, and have an important question. I am planning to buy a 96 Accord EX, but the ABS does not work. The ABS light comes on, and the seller says that a mechanic checked it and said it was the acutal mechanical parts (not the computer). My question is: Is it safe to buy this, is it just a regular car w/o ABS, or (as a mechanic said) having the ABS not working can mess up the car, and cause it to be unsafe. I dont know whether to buy this car or not because of this problem. If I buy this part: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW
Will that solve the problem? Experience? Comments?
Thanks

it sort of depends on what the problem with the abs system is...if there's a leak somewhere, yeah, it's unsafe...it's just one of the abs motors or something in that nature, i don't see why it'd be unsafe...you need to find out more information as to why the abs is malfunctioning and what is physically wrong with the brake system...
that is the part that goes bad a ,lot the abs modulator...if you are going to do job yourself it is a good deal,,,,,if a machanic is going to do job have your modulator resealed and make sure they put new o-ring in accumulator as well and put some honda-bond on the bottom plugs when they seal them
