Type-S Suspension
Hi folks. I'm inquiring for a friend. Are the JDM Type-S Struts/Springs different (assuming more agressive) then the USDM Type SH?
Anyone know where I might be able to get a hold of some. Using aftermarket components is not an option so don't suggest that.
Thanks

Everything I've heard is that it's the exact same suspension and components as the US Prelude TypeSH model. Same spring and dampening rates and all...
Why are aftermarket suspension components not an option for you?

Why do people always want something from a JDM car?? Yeah, I can understand engine parts, but such as suspension and car body parts, whats up with that?
well, the body parts, the front-ends, like alot, the integra and mugen prelude looks dope, better then anyother aftermarket parts. or maybe they want to make it a conversion.
Let me explain the situation.
The car is a USDM Prelude SH that competes in a "stock" road racing class. We are trying to find a factory OEM Honda spring that is a little stiffer than the ones found on the SH. The idea here is to stiffen the ride a little bit without using an aftermarket part - which is illegal according to the rules.
So many folks jumping to conclusions... I asked a simple question wanting a simple response not a bunch of BS about using JDM parts. Save the drama for your "street racing" team.

I don't know if this is applicable to your competion rules... But I know SCCA Showroom Stock class allows aftermarket dampers because they are considered a wear item... Most Preludes in Showroom Stock run Koni Sport dampers because they are adjustable for rebound, and they allow the car to be lowered a little bit too... I have the Konis and they are very nice...

Look at the stickers, SCCA SSB(showroom Stock B). The Type SH was moved down from T2 to SSB this year so it could be more competitive. There in not much showroom stock racing down hear in the SOWDIV so I am not sure how competitive it is.
Even if the Type S springs were stiffer I do not think using them would be legal since there is no Type S listed on the same line as the Type SH in the GCR
I would like to see some pictures of the interior, specifically the cage, in that Prelude. I have Autopower cage in my Prelude race car and I am looking for ideas on how to have a custom cage done.

Senior President - I was not directing my reply at you. I appreciate your original response. I did not post the specifics on the situation becuase I did not want to raise any suspecsion about the "legality".
I went back and re-read the '02 GCR and you are all correct that there is no Type S listed so using the springs is not an option.
Sorry for all the confusion.
