2.5" straight-thru vs 3" chambered muffler.
From strictly a performance aspect, how to the 2 setups compare to each other: Both mandrel bent piping:
1) 2.5" catback with 2.5" straight-thru muffler
2) 2.5" catback with 3" chambered muffler (flared where loop-over axle piping connects to muffler).

I'd take the 2.5 inch straight-through.

Exactly the reason I was considering it. I want the best of both worlds, is that too much to ask?

I might try that OBX 2.5" twinpass, it's $100... I guess I can't really lose... but I'd rather buy something the first time and like it.

bump. I'd like to know too. This sounds like a reasonable idea. I know everyone with a Honda seems to say "straight thru" is the best, but all the v8 guys I know run chambered setups.

id use the vibrant straight though muffler. i have it. ahha 2.5 inch kteller with the 14" resonator. its quiet. its as quiet as my comptech 2.25 piping with a flow master. https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

V8 guys run chambered mufflers (ie Flowmaster) because they prefer the sound of them. Not because they make more power.

Go for the straight though muffler. Many times chambered mufflers are the same core muffler from 2" to 3.5" and they just change the inlet/outlet sizes anyway. As long as you don't put some ungodly fart tip on the muffler i'd put my money on the straight-through being quieter as well.

ah ok. thanks

Anyone have any thoughts on this muffler? Edelblock RPM performance mufflers
It splits within in the muffler than comes back together before it exits.

That Edelbrock muffler looks interesting, wonder how it performs/ sounds.
Just to throw another muffler out there, how about the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler? Don't know how this performs or sounds either, but with this in a 3", it may be a cheaper/ more stock looking alternative to a twin loop

Anyone know of a better picture of the layout of the inside of that dynomax? nice find btw. Are those rectangles at the end? I'm hoping where it makes that 180 degree turn (twice) it is mandrel bent.

RPM Series Mufflers
2-1/2'' Center In

15'' Long x 7-1/8'' Wide x 3-5/8'' Height

Looks very interesting. I wonder "quiet" this thing can be paired w/ a 2.5" pipe and resonator.
