where can I take the serial number to, to find out what year car the motor came out of.

 

If you want to know what year the engine is, then look at the cylinder head. It's stamp on the exhaust manifold side. between the 3rd and 4th exhaust piping. For an example if it's a 92' it would be stamped 9/1 on it due to Honda's practice of making the head a year earlier then the rest of block.
