Default Need opinions on what type of headwork to be done on my setup.

Heres my setup.

Head:
-Type R Head
-Omni Power flat valves
-Portflow springs & titanium retainers
-Jun Stage 4 cams
-Toda cam gears
-Toda timing belt
-Toda ITB's
-Hondata intake gasket

Block:
-B18b block with RS Machine Sleeves 84mm
-B18B Crank
-Crower 4340 steel billet rods
-Endyne Rollerwave Pistons 12.5:1
-Endyne block girdle
-ACL Bearings
-Golden Eagle Vtec conversion kit
-Spoon Oil Pump
-ARP Main Studs

I also have a header tech with a 3" collector but don't know If I'm going to use it, thinking about an AN-R, DTR, or hytech.

Anyways, I had the machine shop bore the combustion chambers out to 84mm. I was wondering if I could run it how it is or should I get the edges smoothened out. and if I did would the compression lower alot or not enough that it would matter.

very nice setup

header-tech header will gain you power, but if you do decide to ditch it, then i'd wait till the srz racing test part 2 where they test the headers on a built motor.

don't forget Rmf and ofcourse the smsp header.

rmf won the stock itr header test

Opening up the chambers like that just killed your compression. Your going to have to mill it a lot to gain some of that back which will be interesting with the JUN 4's. Youll definitely have to clay before final assembly. If you dont mill the head your compression is going to be a lot too low for those cams.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont kinda thing

So your telling me I shouldn't have touched the combustion chambers and left it alone.

After thinking about it I'm gonna get the combustion chambers welded like the Endyne All Motor Heads ( http://www.theoldone.com/compo...d.htm ). I'll just save up and get it done right. Does anyone know some where else that does that for less, but a decent job?

Contact Brad at RLZ, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

how many cc's were taken out of the head? instead you might be able to swap cams, thats if spot facing your head didn't reduce your compression to belows 11
When my head was done at portflow he took about 4 cc out of my head, w/ ib 3 cc pistons and flat top valves i should be mid 11s in cr

I doubt the compression changed much. You can estimate how much metal was removed and calculate it.

or you can cc it and find out for sure. but i doubt your compression is less than 11.8:1

damn man, I wish I had $1,000,000, I would just buy car parts all day just to look at them, Id go crazy and buy like 5 b series head and send them out for full everything! That would be so tight, but then reality hits and you realize how hard it is to be a racer on a budget.

WoW, those valve seats look crazy. Can you get a closer pic of one of the chambers?

I love how Larry flamed me years ago because of my welded port pr3 head with sharpend dividers..
Now he does the exact same thing according to the pics in that link....

Just let it go, man (Tbone)
And don't open up the combustion chambers-I did it once and regretted it. You are just giving away compression.
