04 V6 MT - Tink sound at high torque
My car has 12,000 miles on it. The last 300 miles or so I have noticed a Tink sound every time I shift above 3500 RPM. Its just one tink that sounds like its coming from under the hood somewhere. I did notice that if I have it in 2nd or 3rd gear and its around 3000 RPM and I punch the gas a little to get some torque then the tink sound shows up there too. So it seems whenever torque is high I get the sound.
I took it to the dealer, he went for a ride with me, heard the sound, thought it was wierd. He said they had my car all tore apart looking for whatever this noise is. Then the mechanic went out and test drove a new V6MT and he says he thinks it makes the same noise.
I have a friend that used to be a honda service manager, he says it doesnt sound like it should be doing this. He thinks it could be an engine mount or something, but he is just guessing and couldnt believe the Honda shop blew me off like that.
What do you think this is?
And for anyone with a 04 V6MT, is this normal?

I have no clue what a "tink" sounds like....but it's possible an engine mount could be faulty. I would hound that dealer because it is under warranty. Worst case I would call around to dealers and if they can't fix it have it replaced under the "no lemon law".
Hopefully this helps...but GL with your scenario.

I tink is the muffler bearing causing this tinkering noise.
maybe you should give it more horsepower than torque by adjusting the flux capacitor.

I don't have a v-6, but the exhaust always has a flexible joint somewhere near the engine. Maybe that's creaking as it moves? Can you grab the engine, shake it, & make the same noise? If so, then you can look underneath & pinpoint the location.
