Default what to expect from a good paint job


so i'm looking into having some body parts repainted factory color.

is there something i should be looking for to get a good paint job?
like # of clear coats or type of paint used?

Just make sure they match it, that's the biggest thing. They need to get a paint sample from your car so they can color match it to whatever is getting painted. They will handle the rest from there.

well i was thinking they normally paint the factory color and then tint to match the rest of the car (since the rest of the car paint fades a little)

but is there anything i should be looking for as far as paint type? or # of clear coats?

i think the prepping is the most important thing...even with however coats of clear or paint, if the prepping is wack then the paint job will be wack

what exactly do you mean by "prepping" like body filler and sanding? or paint primer?

i believe he means sanding and primer..make sure you check for scratches or bubbles when you get it back

so basically i should make sure the surfaces are nice and smooth before i send to paint... or have them do the filling/sanding...
