You get what you pay for.
Don't get metal, if the slider catches, the bike will end up doing something you don't want it to do.
I have intuitive sliders, they cost me $50 at the local cyclegear. They work.

The base of my brothers vortex frame sliders snapped at 1 mph tip over. I personally think their design is more form over function. I trust my graves over the vortex anyday.
Intuitve's are awesome! I had a set of frame sliders (before I got my cage), and crashed on them twice (same set, same side). They held up GREAT, and you could hardly tell they were lowsided on (even though my stator cover took most of the hit). After my cage was put on, I put a set of Intuitive swingarm sliders. I dumped my bike at about 50mph and the bike slid a good 90+feet on its side. The swingarm was untouched and the slider looked great and definately reusable (only grinded down a bit).
I would advise staying away from metal tipped ones because they don't "slide," which makes things WORSE than having no sliders at all. You might just end up with a cracked frame and or motor.

I got some sliders somewhere around my house, have never had any installed for any bike I've ever owned, I'm gonna break that habit. Mine are nylon but after reading this I'm gonna get myself another set and some for the swingarm. I'm gonna spend the money for some good ones, every time u drop it it's gonna cost up to 500 to fix. Most of the time someone drops theirs is when they park it. I parked in soft ground a few times before I repainted it.
I have Sato sliders made of Delrin. From what I have seen these work very well, but I have never had to use them. I just bought them on recommendations. Plus they are black and look inconspicuous.
