Default ARP rod Bolts Necessary?

I have a friends car at my house that has recently had a LS/VTEC Conversion done by Honda Fiend, and after only a month or so the engine has developed a loud knock(rod knock) btw 2K and up. Upon tearing the motor apart I noticed that the rod bolts were stock. Is it necessary to use ARP rod bolts with this application. Could this be the cause of our problem? It is a b18B with an OBD II B16a2 head. Please Help!

Another one bites the dust... Rod bolts aren't required, but only if you're going to stock rev limit. Chances are it was going higher, hence the problem. ARP bolts will let it go as high as you need, the stock ones are pretty crummy.

I agree and while you had it apart fresh bearings might help the cause

No reason you cannot rev a 15-20 year old motor to 9000 RPM. Bad carma.
