What do you guys think of the '05 SV1000S?
Ive alway never been a fan of SV's or even suzuks in general. But me and gendy stopped by a local suzuk dealer while we were waiting for his car to get tinted and I have to say I was really impressed. They had jet black '05 with optional full-fairing kit and it looked amazing. I was also impressed with how narrow the seat/tank is compared to my 600RR. Has anyone ever ridden one? Impressions?

Full fairing accessory

Im not looking to buy one, just wondering what everyone thinks of them?

Is it only an option for the 1000 or also for the 650S?
I think they look pretty kick ***. Not bad for a non sport bike.
im shootin for a 650S in a few years, they should improve quite abit in that time frame.

What option are you speaking of? The full fairings? You can get full fairings for either the 650 or 1000.
Not sure how much they will improve, it's considered to be a budget bike, hence the crappy suspension and brakes. I shouldn't say crappy, lets say those are the weaker parts of the bike. I still got love for my 650s though

I can't see it being very much different besides having more motor.
I think it's an awesome bike; I'd get one if I didn't already have an SV and wanted to pay insurance on a litre.

True, there isn't much room for improvement it's an awesome bike. The brakes aren't that bad, until they fade, which can easily be fixed by a set of braided lines. And the suspension is okay, the only thing that sucks about it is the lack of adjustibility, but for what it is, the bike handles great. change the oil in the forks and you're all good.

Still no replies from anyone who actually ridden a 1000.
Can we all agree that the 1000s in all black with full fairings and dual pipes is pimp? I know a lot of you love the street fighter look of the sv but caddamn the full fairing model looked somewhat like my RR

i've been obsessing over the black 05 for a while now. then i started obsessing over the kawi z1000 but i'm back to the sv1000s. just add some red trim to the wheels and it'd be like a raven copycat

I'm curious what makes it a non-sport bike. Everything is pretty much the same as the inlines, it's just doesn't have full fairings. Are V-Twins automatically considered something other than sport bikes?

Never been on one but I really like the black frame of the '05. I think the older ones look pretty sweet with full fairings but it helps if the plastics are silver to match the frame. If/when I replace my bike in a few years I'd like to stick with the twins and pick up one of these babies. I wish I could find a picture of an '05 with full fairings 'cause it's ridiculous looking.

I wouldn't say they aren't sport bikes but I also wouldn't put them in the same class as a 600rr, r6, 6r, gsxr in terms of speed and performance. That said, I'd love to own a sv650 someday

Of course not, anything with an "R" at the end is pretty much a whole 'nother class.
I guess I tend to think of those are more "Supersport" type bikes.

Heh, 500R. Yeah I think it is safe to say no one has ridden a SV1000S cause no one buys them. Much better alternatives from other companies.

Like what?
The Z1000 is nice, but it ain't a twin. The RC is nice, but it is no fun to ride anywhere but the track.
FZ1 sucks compared with the SV. Ditto the 599/919.
From where I'm standing, there ain't much.
<-- Loves his SV and is certainly biased.

I have always loved the look of the half faired suzuki twin. Even adding the lower fairing makes it look pretty sweet on the sv. I seem to remember that the sales figures for the TL1000s wasn't that impressive and that is why suzuki canned the tl lineup.
Then a few yrs later the sv650s is introduced and it does well as an entry level sportbike/sport tourer and they decide ok lets make a slightly big brother (tl clone) and rebadge it as an sv1000?? Didnt they remember what happend only a few yrs earlier?
Before I got my 929 I was pondering getting a tls, but all the ones around here were beat on pretty hard. Being a honda guy i then turned to the RC51 but ended up with the 929 as I got a killer deal on it.
Also, if the suspension on the sv is substandard, pickup a ohlins/penske/fox rear shock, and install a set of gsxr front forks and you are all set.

i have they are nasty. no they don't feel like a sv650, a little bit heavier. i rode a stock one that was nice then i rode a 2003 with a gsxr 1000 rear shock and inverted forks. that was crazy in the turns. its also a wheelie machine. when i got my 929 i was going to buy the first 929, 954, or sv1000s i could find a deal on. i ended up with the 929 but the sv1000s is an amazing bike.

Never been on one but I really like the black frame of the '05. I think the older ones look pretty sweet with full fairings but it helps if the plastics are silver to match the frame. i'd define the sv as a sporty streetbike since it's not really a full on sportbike like a gixxer, yet it's not really just a standard streetbike like a 919.
