SCCA Rule Question to those that may know....
Looking at the SCCA GCR, how would one interpret the following (see below) for the headlights on an Integra?
12. Lights and Lenses: Glass and/or plastic headlight, front parking and signal light lenses and bulbs shall be removed. Other lighting components and operating ancillaries may be removed, but the headlight rims/bezels shall remain in their original locations. The resultant openings behind the rim/bezels shall be covered with wire mesh screens or solid panels of an alternative material. These covers shall be of the same or flatter contour as the original lenses.
D. On those vehicles where plastic or glass headlight covers are standard, they shall be removed and may be replaced with duplicates of an alternate material mounted in the original location
Would this mean you can completly remove the headlights / assembly and replace it with 4 aluminum covers where the headlights where? The part where it said headlight rims/bezels shall remain, then reading on...everything got fuzzy.
Thanks,

Thanks,
depends what you're preparing the car for. IT has an overriding statement that you need to keep the headlights in, glass and all IIRC.
If you're going Prod, then remove away.

Sounds like JonBoy is building one of them E Prod Type Rs...
Yep... Remove away and cover with aluminum. You can use one of them for intake air. Thats what Blake has done on his GP CRX.

Thanks guys. That's what I needed to know....and yep...E-Prod. It's amazing how much freakin' wire is in those dang cars. I wouldn't be surprised if there was 2 miles of wire. Thanks again!
On my FP CRX, I simply bought a cheapo set of plastic GTS brand smoked headlight covers and installed them where the old lights used to be. They just need a few aluminum tabs and some small screws to hold them in place. Don't pop-rivet or put too much tension on them as they might crack (note the end of the driver's side is broken off). I actually had two pairs: one good pair that have been painted body color and have mesh backed holes for intake air that I have yet to install and this one non-painted sacrificial set that I used for trial mounting to keep from breaking the good set the first time. They are cheap, light , readily availabl eand perfectly fit the headlight shape.
