First CRX ever... :)
Hey guys, I'm about to buy a 91 CRX with 162,000 miles. I am going to drop either a b16 or a b18 in it (depending on the money situation) but I need to know how long you guys think it will last. I won't be able to do the swap for at lesat another month, and I'm worried about dropping a lot of money in it before I can get the new engine. What do you guys think? The clutch catches really late, so I'm already counting on having to replace that, but is there anything else I should look for? This is my first honda ever, so I'm new the whole thing. Any help you guys can give me would be really appreciated.
Welcome to the world of honda!
It should be fine. I would change your plugs, wires, cap, button and oil of course.
Then maybe run a little seafom through it and it should be fine until you do the swap. I had an 85 CRX with 381,000 miles before it died (original motor, 2nd clutch LOL). The floor fell out, the motor still ran when we scrapped it.
Have fun, the CRX is still one of my favorite cars to drive!
*edit* your clutch will most likely last a month...i wouldn't waste the money unless it slips real bad

the clutch might not be bad, it might just need an adjustment. if it slips it's bad or going bad
make sure id doesnt burn oil, even if it does it will still last a while lol.

Yeah, I wouldn't put a lot of time, money or effort into a clutch or engine that I was going to be dropping on the floor soon. On a related note, seafoam is not the solution to every problem...
