Default zc motor and tranny for 400, should i get it or wait for the b16???

hey guys, hows about a little advice here?? i just found a guy that will sell me his zc motor and tranny for 400 bucks. right now, i've got a pretty much stock crx hf, and after the 300,000 miles that are on the engine, im lookin at about 40hp right now. the thing is just worn out, and the hf didn't come with power anyway, just about 63, i think it was. anyways, i was wanting to buy a b16, but right now the funds just aren't available, and it could be a year before thats able to happen. i had already done all the research for the b16, so this is new to me. i know the motor and tranny will bolt right in for the zc, but what about anything else?? i would really like the hp until i can afford the b series, and 400 is a pretty good price. so, what do you guys think??? do it or not?? and if so, anyone got any links to info on this??? alright fellas, i think thats it. let me know how ya feel.

go with the zc. pretty much a hassle-less install. plus you'll have money in the bank.

Everything should bolt in. You'll have 2 wires to modify for the now external cyl pos sensor.

But being this is going into an HF, I believe you'd need to updgrade your CV's and spindles to at least a regular Civic. The HF ones are light, but weak, and I heard they *could* snap or break.

It's a SOHC ZC, not a DOHC ZC? I LOVED (and miss) my DOHC turbo ZC.

If money is already an issue, i think the ZC would be the best solution for you. the cost of the zc swap is almost a third of the cost of a B swap. Put the ZC in have some fun with it for a year or so, and if you have the money you can start putting a B series swap together.

they don't make cams directly for it, but the make cams for the d16a1, which i believe work.

there are several regrind cams you can pick up for a dohc zc. Best in my opinion would be exospeed for the money.

go with the ZC, turbo it, and you make more power and still be cheaper than doing a complete B16 swap after install.

i have a DOHC zc motor in my 91 ef with a couple mods heades, intake just little things and there's not a stock sir out there that can keep up. im not even running a good tranny. ZC motor is bullet proof and it's non-vtech so it craves a turbo. if ur getting a zc tranny with the motor for $400 id say go for it. its a simple swap and the best bang for ur buck.

Yeah I would get that. The price is right, and the motor is good...you can turbo it, or you can do nitrous. This guy I know ran like a 75 shot in his hatch with a built zc, it was pretty quick.

You are probably talking about my cousins chris or shane. 13.1 and 13.3 with a 60 shot is what they ran and that was in 1997-1998 when nobody knew what a zc was. The good old days. It is definetly worth that money.

Naw the dude I'm talking about is this guy named Shawn. Those times are so good, ZC's are badass and cheap too. Si2See do you go downtown on Fridays or Saturdays?
