Default how much loss?

Ok just bought a 93 accord with a JDM H22 w/ only 400 miles on the engine and tranny, problems is the guy that did the swap before buying put an auto tranny. This is the first time I have ever had an auto tranny. So I am wondering just how much power should I expect to lose going through a USDM H22 tranny(all brand new). I have to keep the auto because my girlfriend can't drive a stick and have to say its kind of nice in traffic not playing with a 4 puck ceramic clutch.

Thanks
JR

5 speed and auto on H22 is like night and day. Auto is slower. You are probably looking at about 10% of whatever 5 speed makes.

so a 10% loss? I can handle that, taking this accord back to being completely stock on the exterior and trying to decide, if I should pull the auto tranny and trade it in for manual and do the swap(really don't want to do this because of my situation). This tranny is brand new which is nice to know that I won't have to worry about it, but I am conserned if I start pushing it a bit, such as getting the head PnP, and just doing a few modifications with the money I will get from selling all the aftermarket additions(theres a lot of ricer parts on this thing).
How well does a auto tranny hold up to being pushed a bit.

Thanks
JR

Basic bolt-ons should be fine.

im gonna call bs on that 7 series comment unless it was loaded down with 4 fat *** yuppies and all their stuff in the trunk.
IMO my auto with a f22 is still pretty quick. it gets me where i need to go and if im really in a hurry it will do every bit of 135.

well.. i havent looked at any dyno readouts of stock cars, auto v 5sp, but somehow i doubt this. are these numbers founded in fact, or did you simply toss something up? if so, a disclaimer would probably be appropriate on that subject though, id tend to think that the loss would be closer to 5whp. this would be less than 5% on anything over 100whp, which your f22 definitely has. there are two situations in which this will make a difference: (1) if you are flooring it, (2) if youre just plain pissed off and fed up with the indecisiveness of auto trannies. otherwise, dont worry about it

I have actually read in a book about manual to auto, I think 10% is about right.
You can control the auto for good rpm's so not worried about that, just heard you lose a lot through an auto tranny.

thanks
