micropolishing cams?
has anyone heard of micropolishing cams? someone is trying to sell me some skunk 2 cams that are "polished" not that dark color

its ok to run cams without the black coating. that is only for corrosion resistance. i doubt they are micropolished because you cant polish a bseries cam with a belt polisher. they probably weren't coated, which would probably make them cams sold by domestic companies or copy cat companies.
why don't you ask the customer service people at skunk. send them pictures so they can help you determine what they are.

There is a process that can be done to cams to get a "super finish" on them that reduces friction, wear and oil retention from the cam. I have used this process before and it is great for engine's that are trying to extract every ounce of h.p.

Cams made with the chilled cast cores should be "parkerized" a process similiar to black oxide or Ferrox that leaves a iron-phosphate etching that retains oil on the surface of the lobes to provide lubrication between the lobe and rocker pad.
