89 Civic SI interior colors
Okay I have a red 89 civic si, and the messed up thing is that the headliner is tan. Anybody else have this? Or did somebody just replace the headliner in this car with a tan one?
Messed up. Also, have you guys had the problem where your sunroof doesn't move, but the motor makes noise. I checked the manual, but there are like 6 things that could be the problem. Anybody have this issue, and fixed it?
I'll check into the tracks part. It's weird though, cuz this car has a tan sun roof cover as well as the tan headliner. What 88-91 civic came with a powered sunroof that also came with a tan headliner and sunroof cover?
i just pulled parts off a 91 si, and it was all tan on the headliner/sunroof cover and stuff.
also, i noticed it had different "oh ****" handles in the back, the kind that retract in when you let go of them.

Okay, looked at the headliner again, it now looks kinda grayish. Has anybody had a civic si hatch that the headliner faded? I'm thinking possibly the gray has faded to a somewhat tan/gray. Maybe i'm on crack. Tomorrow i'll compare both my 89 civic si's and report on it. Just seemed messed up.

Yes, I have seen several that no longer looked gray and were more tan-looking.
Since no other USDM hatch trim had a moonroof, it could only be an Si headliner - and since all Si cars had a gray headliner, it had to originally be gray.
Maybe the former owner of the headliner was a heavy smoker

See I was running this through my head as well. This orange 89 civic si that I have has a very dark gray headliner. But this red 89 civic si that I just bought has an almost tan headliner, but I figured it could have only come from a civic si, and all those had gray/black interiors. Maybe there was a heavy smoker, but it doesn't smell like smoke at all in the car. And I can't see how the sun could have faded it.
Weird stuff. Anybody ever tried painting the headliner with success? What paint did you use?

Is this a joke about an owners/mechanic manual? Or are you saying these cars came with some sort of tool to open the sunroof manually?</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes there is a tool that comes with the car that opens the sunroof...it looks like a z..

Okay, so call me a god damn liar. I checked the little toolkit thingy in the back and the Z/S tool was there, opened it manually, and tried the switch. Switch will close the sunroof, but won't open it. Gotta check the helmes as to fixing that problem. If you're facing the sunroof switch, is up to close and down to open? Looks like i'll be buying a new switch.
