GLENDORA, Calif. (April 26, 2005) – NHRA officials announced today that Garrett Turbos, the worldwide leader in manufacturing high performance turbochargers, has been named the Official Turbocharger for the NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing Series.
The official marketing partnership increases Garrett’s participation in the five-year-old series. Garrett Turbos also is the primary sponsor of the Bothwell Motorsports entry driven by Ron Lummus, who set the national record for elapsed time (7.99 seconds) and speed (182.33 mph) in the Hot Rod category at the 2005 season-opener at Moroso Motorsports Park.
“We look forward to generating even more awareness and recognition for Garrett Turbos performance through this official marketing partnership with the NHRA,” said Andrew Nunn, director of Garrett Aftermarket. “We are proud to support the turbocharged sportsman competitors from the NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing Series. We have been involved with NHRA for several years and we are certain that increasing our involvement with this official marketing program is going to provide us with a bigger platform to reach our target demographic. We believe it will have a direct impact on our sales and marketing efforts everywhere we do business.”
As part of the exclusive, multi-year agreement, Garrett Turbos will receive multiple exposure opportunities through a variety of NHRA marketing platforms, including National DRAGSTER, nhra.com, NHRA Sport Compact souvenir programs and track signage at every NHRA Sport Compact Series event. In addition, Garrett Turbos will have the opportunity to use the NHRA mark in its advertising and promotional campaigns.

In all of the turbocharged sportsman categories, both participants in the final round of eliminations are guaranteed to take home one of two Garrett Turbos gift certificates that can be used at any of the five Garrett Performance distributors (ATP Turbo, Limited Engineering, Precision Turbo and Engine, TiAL Sport, and Turbos Direct). The winner of the final round will earn a $200.00 gift certificate and the runner-up collects a $100.00 gift certificate.

Wow, good for Garrett. They are a really stand up company that is going to help propel this sport into the future. Tracie, you are the best. Congrats on the good move. Hey, if we are sponsored by Garrett, can we still collect on the prizes?

Thanks for the support, guys-- over the past couple of years, our sponsored teams in the pro classes have made huge strides; now we want to help the struggling sportsman racers afford to go faster.
