fuel problems?
i posted a few time about my 98 dx having sputtering problems and well now i think its my fuel pump. my civic is having trouble starting, then once its running in neutral i can put the gas all the way to the floor with out it reving, but when i am in gear i can rev it up but it hesates. i can drive it but i cant accelerate very fast because it cuts out like its getting no gas. also when i am driving at a constant speed it regularly just cuts out. after its warmed up and i stop at a light, it sputters at idle and i have to pump the gas to get it to rev up, sometimes when i do this it just stalls. so im thinking that my fuel pump is bad, what do you guys think??

I'm having a similar problem with my 95 civic dx. I posted about it last night and got no replies. My engine will rev to 3000 rpm then it cuts out like the gas is being shut off. It feels less powerful than it used to be when I accellerate but it could be that I have to shift at 3000 rpm when I used to rev it a lot higher. I went to the dealership Saturday around noon and they said that I would have to leave the car there since they didn't have enough people or time to analyze the problem. I checked the ignition system and everything seems fine. My buddy at work who's a mechanic thinks its probably the fuel pump but he agrees with me that I shouldn't just buy one without checking the fuel pressure first to make sure. Maybe someone who has had the same problem could help us both out.
i dont have a fuel psi guage, is it something i could find somewhere like autozone?
where should i hook it up to check the pressure and does anyone know what the normal pressure should be for a 98 civic dx?
thanks for everyones help

That's the problem with my 95 civic. I have a fuel pressure guage but theres no where to hook it up on my car. My Haynes manual says to remove the bolt that holds the banjo fitting on top of the fuel filter and make an adaptor bolt with a hole drilled through it and some other modifications. Then it says you can screw the new bolt into the fuel filter and hook a fuel pressure guage to it. I tried to buy the bolt from the dealership but I was told they only have one at each dealer and they aren't for sale. I'm gonna try to remember to bring my Haynes manual and fuel pressure guage to work tomorrow and see if my boss will let one of the machinists make the part for me.
