HELP: Exhaust leak turned into an exhaust-less monster...
Well, it started saturday when i was driving home on the interstate. I noticed a weird sound coming from my car and upon pulling in the garage realized that i had a leak.
I went to the shop yesterday and told them i needed to get it checked out and i made an appt. for wednesday. On the road right near the shop i hear a loud popping sound, followed by metal scraping on the ground... I pulled over into a driveway and looked under my car. The damn pipe broke right before the resonator and was dragging on the ground. After limping back to the shop at 20mph and trying not to break my eardrums i had them cut the rest of the midpipe off so that one, i still had both flanges, and two, would still have a fully connected rear section just so it looks like i have an exhaust until i can get it fixed.
I really need some advice... I am looking around for a new midpipe and im not sure whether it would be cheaper to get a pipe made at monro muffler or just get another stock pipe. If i get another stock pipe i have 2 available, one from a 98 hatch and another from an 00 Si. I have a 98 LX and know the different placements of the cats and so forth, i just need to know what would be my best way to fix this QUIET little problem. Thanks guys.
PS: the pipe is gone right after the flange about 6 inches behind the shifter pivot.
