Alpines you can change like 360 colors. So whatever color your **** is, it will match it. Plus its nice to change every once and a while

Man that looks sweet. I've always thought the greenish tint on Alpines clashed with our backlights.
I'll definately be doing a Nakamichi setup next after my home theater project.

Since every CD that I've burned has played in them, alll burnt using Windows Media Player in WMP format. All worked, and I dont have any fancey Nero crap or anything. I also have tried them in all three.

I agree. Stick with stock and spend that money on an iPod and an adapter (not the POS FM mod, but a hard wire, which also charges up the unit as it plays).

The CD-500 does but doesn't look like it does amber.

I had just purchased a nak cd400 from a local store and came in the other day to look for a decent speaker set up and they told me they had just got in the cd500
i played around with it ( exactly the same as the cd400 but is mp3 equipped!!)
i wish i held off a few months so i could get that one instead

Well cool then! Wonder why they don't show that on the website like they do the CD-400.

Personally I like the look of the Nakamichi, plus they have that weird reputation of making top notch products. I decided to go with the Alpine 9835 piece just because I like to contradict myself.

The radio I have is really nice, and you can change not only the color of the display but also all the buttons change to the same color so you can have it match the ITR dash perfectly!! This radio also has dual 24bit DAC's just like the Nakamichi and yet it costs less and plays MP3's. I was actually looking to buy another 2 of these for my ek and my gf's integra.

The nakamichi is definately the way to go. I just installed mine and would post pictures if I knew how to. It was easy to install but a little tricky to figure out how to securely mount it properly and keep it from moving around too much in the console.

When I hear 'windows media', I think .wma files, which are close to .mp3's
The oem decks you described will play burnt .wav files just fine, whether made out of windows media player, roxio, nero, etc. But AFAIK, they only read standard cd format.

Yeah I'm not sure, but I was thinking he was prolly burning them as .cda's, which is the CD format.
