Default roll cage

I have an bolt-in autopower roll cage. Can I modify it so that I can still use the back seat and still be approved by SCCA? Or any suggestions in terms of cutting the cross rear beams and rig it so I can put back or bolt it back on for racing?

If you have the Autopower, then its designed to keep the full stock interior intact.

Chris- I believe he means the 6-point cage, not the bar...

Without cutting, I can't see how you'd keep the stock interior assembled, especially considering the rear mounting points...

From what I last heard, you can no longer have a 6pt cage with removeable cross brace and still roadrace with it.. But still, I would NEVER recomend putting passengers in a car where they can contact anything metal, even if it is padded..

The Autopower 6-point cage doesn't have the removeable cross braces like the 4-point bars do. I have the 6-point and I still have a full interior (rules). However, the backseat is basically useless and I wouldn't even want to have someone ride back there....even if the cross braces are removeable. I would think that modifying the braces would effect the strength integrity of your cage anyway.

If you still want to have passengers, don't get a roll cage.

Is 4 pt. roll bar meets the SCCA regulations or NHRA's? Is it safe at all, especially for the rear passenger or the front?

Either way (roll bar or cage) it wont be safe for your rear passengers to sit back there. And a 4 point roll bar will not meet SCCA road racing regulations. The autopower 6 point cage should - check with the rule book.

Autopower (and maybe Kirk?) 4-point bolt in bars meets "minimum" requirements for Solo-I. It does not meet NHRA, NIRA, or Club Racing requirements. It is also not safe for backseat passengers.

4pt bar, 6pt cage, doesn't matter. Even if you make it so you can remove the cross bar, no one in their right mind should ride back there.

You're car will essentially be a 2 passenger car from now on.

So hearing this, when investing in a roll cage for any level of SCCA/autox, the Autopower 6 point cage is the way to go... hands down, right? Where is the best place to buy this cage and what do they usually cost? Also, is it true that you have to remove your back speakers to install the cage? Thank you.

Another option is a Kirk Racing 4/6pt. You don't need to loose the rear speakers with the Kirk.

Edit: Here is a pic.

Nope. It is a good, economical solution. The best solution is a custom fabiracted cage that is welded to the tub. But expect to pay more for it. Autopower cages are somewhere around $600-$800. A custom cage starts about $1000 (if you can find a roundy-round guy) and average about $1500-$2000 if fabricated by well known car builders. The roundy round guys do good work, but you'll have to brinf the rulebook, as they are unlikely to be familiar with SCCA/NASA/etc rules.
